2 NEW Aaliyah albums and movie

Our beloved Aaliyah may be gone but her spirit seems to be working hard. According to many sources, Blackground is planning two new albums and a movie about her life for 2005. The first album will be a duets album featuring Monica, Toni Braxton, Usher, Tyrese, Lil Jon, JoJo and Brandy. Viacom is currently planning a special with footage from friends, celebrities and family that will concentrate on their times with the singer. The second album will include unreleased material as well as remixes. There has been a lot of chatter about a movie adaptation with Megan Good as the lead. "We cannot confirm the movie ideas but we are planning to release new music from Aaliyah in 2005," said a spokesperson at Blackground. "Aaliyah will always be a part of our roster and we will always find avenues to explore, while keeping her spirit alive." Internet rumors have also linked the singer with a clothing line. Those rumors have not been confirmed.

Here's what I found on the Janet-Xone forum:

Aaliyah will be coming back strong in the year 2005. The "More Than a Woman" singer will be releasing two albums in 2005. The first to hit the rack will be a duets album of all her hits. The album will feature Brandy, Destiny's Child, Monica, Toni Braxton, Usher, Tyrese, Lil Jon, JoJo, and more. The second will be an album full of new unreleased tracks, Aaliyah recorded before her death. It will also feature a DVD of video footage never before seen. There is also a movie in the works. It's titled "More Than a Woman" The film was recently titled "Aaliyah's Journey" but was changed. The actress to play Aaliyah is Megan Good. She was tapped by Miramax Films after Singer/Actress Brandy turned down the role. Norwood told management that she really wants to focus on her music. The Movie is set to start shooting in November 2004. In fashion, The Haughton’s will be launching a clothing line in memory of Aaliyah. It will be for girls. It will feature Urban, Casual, and Bed attire. I will also feature Accessories, and Body Products. Some of the proceeds will go to the Aaliyah Memorial Fund. It should hit stores in Summer 2005.

Meagan was okay in Biker Boys, but in Love Don't Cost A Thing she was sort of the same character. I'm afraid she won't be able to pull off the subtle soft-sexiness that Aalyiah had. Meagan playing Aalyiah is like Vivica Fox playing Sade. I hope she doesn't screw it up. Tatiayana would be good. Even though it would be a conflict of interest, I think Christina Milian could pull it off. Meagan may do okay. I guess we'll see.

Why were they wanting Brandy to play Aaliyah? That's beyond absurd. What singer really wants to play another singer...and not just another singer, but one that was out at the same time as you and your competition? Plus, Brandy looks absolutely nothing like Aaliyah. Aaliyah was pretty. Brandy is.....uhh....Brandy? I think Megan looks alot like her, but I'm not to sure on her acting skills. Aaliyah always seemed like such a complex person to me....main reason I loved her soo much. Tatyana Ali would do a good job. She looks like her and she's a good actress. Plus, Tatyana has a nice voice...anyone remember "Daydreamin"...

Please tell me that these duets were done before she died (which I highly doubt). If that isn't the case, they should be really ashamed. 'Lil John? You know she is weeping in heaven right now.

Wow. That's pretty harsh. I actually think Megan Good is very pretty, and I loved her in Eve's Bayou. I always thought Sanaa Lathan looked a lot like Aaliyah, but she's not the right age to play her.

Aaliyah was one of my favorites, and I was very sad when she died, but is a movie necessary? Her life wasn't an especially dramatic one, but even the parts that were (her marriage to the pedophile) would have to be left out because of court orders. I'm not saying her life was a boring one, but it wasn't especially cinematic, if you will. I can only see them making a by-the-numbers movie with little inspiration. If there's good music still to be released, I'm all for it but skip the movie treatment.

btw: to whomever handles Tupac and Aaliyah's estates..ENOUGH!!! you are killing your long term financial gains for immediate "cash-in" prospects....tacky tacky tacky!!...

it sill burns me that she was overlooked for the NAACP award for child acting from that smug kid from SoulFood (wendyandlisa six-degree be damned).....what she and Jurnee Smollett did in that movie set the blueprint for child acting for many years...soon after you saw kids acting real (see sixth sense, iggy, signs) versus mugging..surely that was worthy of an "image" award..

tatiyana looks more like her than megan..and she aint gotta sing...she just gotta b able to lip synch real good..plus i don't think there is really anyone out there who looks like her..or is pretty enough to play her...aaliyah was definately a rare beauty.

nobody thought Angela Bassett could capture Tina Turner...but like Ms. Bassett Megan Good is a wonderful actress...

it sill burns me that she was overlooked for the NAACP award for child acting from that smug kid from SoulFood (wendyandlisa six-degree be damned).....what she and Jurnee Smollett did in that movie set the blueprint for child acting for many years...soon after you saw kids acting real (see sixth sense, iggy, signs) versus mugging..surely that was worthy of an "image" award..

I guess if I were casting it I'd be looking @ the chick that played the girlfriend in Antoine Fisher, she looks more like her than Megan Goode (wish I knew her name)

Agreed. Eve's Bayou was my favorite film the year it was released and both Jurnee and Megan were excellent. I just wish both of them were offered better films these days. Last thing I saw Megan Good in was You Got Served.

Question about Aaliyah... I used to see her being interviewed and she seemed like a really sweet girl, so what was she doing hooked-up with Damon Dash, who just comes across as an arrogant, conceited asshole....? (Maybe I'm just blinded by jealousy.....!!!)
