Should Prince do an MTV unplugged?

Would't be great if Price took advantage of his new popularity and release a MTV unplugged after the " storm" of musicology?

He coud mix his classics, with songs like comeback and tangerine in th eset list, and it woudl be mostly him, a guitar a piano, blackwell, ronda and no horns please. I think it would be a huge sucess.

He said in an interview that he would do MTV unplugged shortly before the Come album game out.
Just imagine the "Loose" video in reverse.. Electric Guitar, Neon Lights, Neon colors, Electric Fence.. completely plugged.

Yup, it would be great if he did an unplugged show like my Kurt did. That was one of the best shows I've ever seen, and Prince would be more than capable of doing the second unplugged show I'd never forget. And he would be just as sexy as Kurt was while doing it lol .

Prince was supposed to do MTV Unplugged back in the day. They even advertised Prince as one of the performers on the upcoming season.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Prince was considering doing and MTV Unplugged. But, funny thing about that show, once you play, the audio/visual rights to your performance is OWNED by MTV to do with what they wish. That is the most likely reason he opted out of the show. I believe that his acoustic album The Truth (or Crystal Ball disc 4) was his way of doing an unplugged show that he could retain the masters of. There were a couple of good songs on The Truth, but I don't really listen to than disc much.

I have had an accoustic show on the top of my P wish list for a looooong time. The accoustic Little Red Corvette from the LA Broadcast back in March was worth the price of admission to all three of the shows that I get to see this week!

Of all the disks in CB I listen to the Truth the most! I would LOVE to hear him play "Dionne", "Other Side of the Pillow", "Fascination", "One of Your Tears", "Comeback"... they're all great songs in my opinion. Throw "Reflection" and a couple of reworked songs you'd have a great Unplugged!
Change it one more time..

OR.....he could *not* be a bastard and actually do something for the fans living in Canada. He claims to love it so much up here, so why do we keep getting shafted?

Howsabout Much Music Intimate and Interactive? Live @ Much? MMMProfile? MMMPresents? MMMMarquee?

Or better yet, he could get his teeny ass up here for the tour. Announcing dates in advance would be nice. Not everyone can just drop everything to dash off across the country last minute, nor do many of us have the money to do so. I don't know if I should spend my moola to go all the way down to Seattle, or if he's going to come anywhere closer to the civilized world! LOL.

Its fantastic that he did one Piano album (ONA) and an amazing acoustic (The Truth)

Most jokers who are seasoned P-funk lovers haven't the truth since its tucked neatly away in the Crystal Ball. Hidden under a rock its unquestionably one of the most overlooked gems in his collection. ONA too. wink

I think that's probably correct.

I know Prince has mentioned it in interviews once or twice, and we know, Prince likes to do things his way, and since the WB fight, he's wanted ownership and control over everything, so I can see the main reason for an unplugged not happening being just that, that MTV retains rights.

Prince thinks "I don't need MTV, I'll do my own unplugged" - hence we get the Truth smile

I do think maybe now the time wouldn't be right for a truly great show - I think maybe the mid-90s might have been the time in terms of performance.

About three years ago, Dan Fogleberg did an acoustic tour. He played half the set on guitar and half the set on piano. It was great; Fogelberg is a fantastic musician.

I can see Prince doing this, but not for a few years.

I just downloaded and saw "The Art of Musicology" and was very happy to see him bonding with the audience during the acoustic set. Well done! Best promo of him i've ever seen.

I don't think he will do an MTV Unplugged but there is nothing stopping him from doing his own acoustic live shows and releasing them. Don't know if there are any Kiss fans out there but I thought their Unplugged album was great. It really proved that they are great songwriters and I think it would do the same for Prince. The songs sounded great acoustic!

I have to disagree with what some are saying about the Truth. It is a great album but it's quite different hearing new songs played acoustically as opposed to classics. What I am saying is that he hasn't yet given us acoustic versions of his hits which is what I think the person who started this thread meant.
