I can't disagree. It sounds like a bit much, considering what fans are shelling out this year already, but he's cashing in this year and it does look like good footage. These songs may not end up on the DVD. | |

I used to complain about this kinda stuff all the time, but then it occured to me that I really don't mind that much. $7.77? Shit, I spend more than that on gas getting back and forth from work every day. So, whats the big deal. Look, nobody is gonna take you seriously if you complain, but you buy it anyway. So, new rule: If you know damn well that you're going to buy something, you aren't allowed to complain. Actually, that's very unlikely. The DRM (protection) on the video clips means you do NOT get it forever, most likely. Typically, you can play it N times, or for N days. I don't know how they're configuring it with their DRM provider, but here's the test: If you can download the file and then *play it WHILE OFFLINE*, you can probably play it forever. If you must be ONLINE to play the clip (even just the first time), it's potentially not "yours" after that $7.77. I'll hold out for the DVD, myself. Release the entire L.A. show as-is even, that would be fine... and definitely worth $20+. ben -- "the prince.org guy" |

Nobody has said officially there is going to be a DVD. When people say stuff like that, it makes other people think they've missed something - queue lots of "There's a DVD? When does it come out? How much will it cost? What tracks are on it" etc etc For all we know, you might be waiting forever for a DVD that never comes, and you'll have missed the opportunity to download this clip! Maybe there will be a DVD, maybe not, you never know with Prince - he's done lots of concerts that were clearly filmed but were never released commercially. $7.77 does seem steep by a few dollars - if he released every song as a video for download from the concerts at this price, it would cumulatively cost a fortune! But as with any purchase of any item, if you think it is too much for what you are getting, don't buy it. Nobody is putting a gun to your head. | |

The concert video it refers to is the clip itself. ...is releasing an amazing new live concert CLIP... followed by THIS new soon-2-b-classic concert video features...
It is just telling you what is in the video clip - the word 'features' is a bit misleading, 'contains' would have been more appropriate. I'm not saying that there won't eventually be a full concert video released (let's hope there is!) just that this email doesn't confirm it. Otherwise via chinese whispers we inevitably get "where's that live dvd he promised us back in May...?" | |

For 8 bucks I get entry into our local music clubs - and a live concert of people playing real instruments just in front of my eyes stil gets me a lot more excited than watching a video on my computer with my crap speakers - even if it comes from my musical hero...

nor anyone else is forcing club members to purchase this. Since they use the downloads as test markets for future releases, you can choose to show your support with the hopes of seeing a Musicology DVD eventually or you choose not to pay 1/3 of the price of a DVD and receive an 11 minute performance. Things had been pretty quiet at the ol' bitching post for several weeks, I guess something had to break the streak.
