So ya sayin' it'll show on MTV,VH1,& BET or not show on'em? & is this Eastern time?(I know 4 Detroit is different-um Central I think) Sounds koo..2 bad I ayn there & not 18+. Sony is really working for our man...THANK GOD! Very true about Sony "doing the work" for Prince (at least I think that is what's happening). This also proves a point to all the naysayers, which is that it's not the music that was lacking, it was the lack of proper promotion from a major label that was pushing Prince to the background for the past several years. It also proves a point which we all already know, which is that it's not so much that all the music that we are forced to hear on radio and TV is really good, it's just that the major labels are doing their best to force it down our throats. With the proper promotion, nearly anybody can be in the top 40. Prince seems to have made a conscious effort to "get back in the game"... and so far it seems to be paying off for him. I'm with you on Prince finally getting the proper promotion, and it's making a difference. I also credit Musicology for being the right album for this time and place in his career. While I am feeling some of TRC, and have not heard NEWS ... I can't help but think that if either of these were the new album, it would probably stop the "Prince is back" momentum dead in its tracks. However, with Musicology, he has an album full of radio/video friendly songs. I really believe that was the intention all along with Musicology. To reacquaint the public with a "palatable" Prince, not something only for the hardcore Prince fan. Seems to be working rather well. The other positive is that the Musicology buzz will probably cause newer/returning fans to look into some of the albums they missed. | |

Prince taped a private performance for MTV on Tuesday night in New York that was open to local members of his NPG Music fan club. He played songs from his new album, Musicology, with his New Power Generation band, plus a solo acoustic set (on a purple guitar) that included "Cream," "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" and "Sometimes It Snows in April." Later, he celebrated the release of Musicology with a party that attracted the likes of Stevie Wonder, Maxwell and the Roots' ?uestlove. ... Just as Prince is undergoing a revival, his old mate Morris Day of the Time is prepping the release of a new album, It's About Time, due June 22. The record contains old live recordings of classic hits from the Time and Day's solo career, plus four new songs written by Day and original members Jerome Benton, Jellybean Johnson and Monte Moir. ...

I believe the set list has been previously posted on another thread, but he did perform Musicology and Dear Mr. Man to lead off the performance. The acoustic set is off the hook, which included Cream, Sweet thing, ICNTPYM, and Somethimes it Snows....., finishing off with Soul Man and Kiss.
