Wasted Kisses is the best song on NewPowerSoul. I think he should finish this song and include it on Musicology. Anyone agree?

i agree. it is the best song on new power soul. i used to not like all the sound effects, but they grew on me and now i cant imagine how the song would sound without them.

Possibly his darkest song, ever!

Its one of the few good songs on that disc. He definitely should have saved it for a better project than NPS.

i don't think Wasted Kisses is anything special.

The One is far and away the best track on NPS. After that, Come On and Mad Sex.

nps is a good album its a party disc

wanna hear a tripped out story about wasted kisses. one nite me and my had been partying and she began 2 tell me that I was 2 much in2 prince. our conversation began 2 get heated cuz she insisted that she was rite (even tho recently she has become a freak cuz of the new tour and all).
well, I had just bought nps and had it about 2 weex. when we were arguing about this we were listening 2 nps. the music had ended and we were still trying 2 settle our differences in opinion. just then wasted kisses came on and I tripped! I had not even known that it was on the disc and wanted my wife 2 just shut-up so I could hear it! but that would only prove her point. YES, I'm addicted!
I mean, the timing could not have been mo perfect. I had 2 play it off and waited 4 her 2 go 2 the bathroom so I could hear it. It is a HOT song!!!

I am inclined to agree but I would have to tie it with The One - it is easily one of the most beautiful songs Prince ever wrote and should have been a huge hit

This song should have NEVER been hidden. A hit in hiding.

At the time of this album I was becoming very disilusioned with the direction and quality of Prince's music. Then I heard Wasted Kisses and it gave me hope that he could still do something original, heartfelt and innovative.

The Newpower Soul album has the same vibe as the Controversy album and the Black album. If you listen to it as a party album, you'll be rewarded. If you listen to it expecting another Lovesexy, then you'll be disappointed.

Its a great album.

It is NOT a great album. Sorry, but it's barely listenable....except for Wasted Kisses.

NPS is a cool album by me. I liked it when it came out and I can still listen to it. COME ON, FREAKS ON THIS SIDE, NEW POWER SOUL, MAD SEX, THE ONE and WASTED KISSES...

As for why was it hidden and what inspired it... think about it.

He hid it *because* it was real. *Because* it was sincere. *Because* it was genuine. We all know that Prince would rather sing about Raspberry Berets and Lady Cab Drivers than come clean and tell the truth about what he feels. He likes to hid in layers of fantasy. He did not do that on WASTED KISSES so he hid it...

Chances are its about Mayte. Someone who hurt him badly. I didn't care for RAVE but MANOWAR and I LOVE YOU BUT I CAN'T TRUST YOU ANYMORE are obviously in this save vein as well. They are continuations of WASTED KISSES thematically.

Sad for him but good for us: This is some of his most honest music.

i think nps is better than any dave matthew album

I actually like NPS, bought it recently.


When I heard "The One" I got the sense that I had heard it before. Maybe with a lighter beat, but the lyrics really ringed a bell. Do anyone knows if anyone ever did a cover of this song? Or maybe even a Prince remix I could have heard?
