"Cream" a blatent rip-off?!

I just discovered that "Cream" (D &P) sounds eerily similar to the T-Rex song "Bang a Gong (Get it On)" from the album "Electric Warrior" released in the early '70s. Both the song structure, the chorus, the guitar riff, all reminded me of "Cream". The singer even says something that sounds just like when Prince says "Dirty Cuban"...

I'd be interested to hear others opinion.I knew Prince "borrowed" sounds but this is uncanny.

I knew that from the first day i heard it. Marc used to wear feather boas too.

Who needs TV when you've got T.Rex?

Yeah that was my reaction the first time I heard it - but I still love it after all these years.
The T-Rex "borrowing" has never bothered me that much.

Not even to mention that "Cream" is a terrible pop song.

I also heard his favourite colour was Purple.

not really. i mean you can find some parallel to any rock song and another rock song. although that is a compliment to prince, in that marc bolan may be the best glam rocker of his day.

The resemblance to Bang a Gong has been acknowledged by way too many fans over the years to be without merit.
