I love the song totally, but my favorite performace was the Tonight Show version, the Alladin DVD as a whole is lifeless to me, none of them seem into it at all.

It's a marvellous song. But it's curious, on TRC is not as good as when it's played live.

I agree! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Hate the lyrics. Purple Fact #542: Prince can make a Weebleâ„¢ fall down.

Out of all his live versions and out of all his most recent songs/jams..I must say it is the one and only song that has kept me a Prince fan so far Rudedog

Again with the "its no courtin' time". What is wrong with Courtin' time? It is a cool 50'swing like tune. It makes me laugh every time I see that. i like it

Co-sign about the Tonight Show version! It was really awesome to see Prince on Jay! But i disagree with you on the topic of the Aladdin DVD, I think they were definitely into it, but it was a more jazzy, subdued "into it." www.adamjames.net -official website

It must be one of P's best songs in years. I prefer the studio version, personally. The complaint and slap bit is a masterful rebuke to critics and the like.

The lyrics are awful. "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

No they're not, they're great. Just the topic that's scooby-doo.

I agree that the studio version is far better than the live version. IT's the funkiest thing he's done in a long while...

No they're not, they're great. Just the topic that's scooby-doo. I can't help but cringe when that chorus comes in: "accurate knowledge of christ and the father will bring the everlasting now" I like the sound, but those lyrics.. yuck. "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

Courtin' Time is my favorite song off of the whole 3-disc Emancipation set -- and I like quite a few songs on there. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.
