please help me with claire fischer info

id like to know all the prince trax that Claire's orchestra performed on.

also i understand Claire Fischer released an orchestral cd. what is it called and does it sound like his prince collaborations

any help would be appreciated

For a start: it's Clare not Claire, he's a man and not a woman as many suspect.
A well-known dutch pianoplayer/ tv-host (Cor Bakker) has studied by Clare Fischer, so assume he teaches students.

I also know that he arranged and conducted the Paul Mccartney song Distractions from 1989's Flowers in the dirt.

I believe i't's in DanceMusicSexRomance that Prince missed the first Clare Fischer overdub session because his plane was delayed. Only Wendy & Lisa were present but he liked the result so much that he didn't want to break the spell and avoided to meet Clare Fischer.

That's all I can think of from the top of my head. I never heard one of his albums.

Claire has also done some work with another Minneapolis funk/rock band "Mint Condition". He also did the music on Robert Palmer's "Ridin' High" album (both worth checking out).

in one claire fischer interview I read last year in a musician or dj magazine, he is a very macho guy who gets out his car and tries to swing a punch at another driver in a fit of road rage...

Back in the 70's He worked with Asford&Simpson&On the Jacksons "Destiny" Album.that is His Strings on Michael Jackson's "You Push Me Away".

A couple of years ago I went to this seminar thing he had here in Holland, where he talked about his work with various old and newer artists...
He eventually told the story about how Prince didn't want to meet him because he didn't want to jinx the "musical chemistry" they had together on tape...
All in all it was pretty interesting hearing the man talk about his passion for his music...
But the main highlight of the seminar was when he let us hear various orchestral arrangements he did for Prince...
First with Prince's music and then all bare without Prince's music...
From the top of my head he let us hear "Venus De Milo", "Do U Lie", "Alexa De Paris", "Crystall Ball" and a couple of others and some unnamed tunes he was working on at that time (that are still not released)...

Two year ago Clare Fischer released his first "classic"-record with a large orchestra playing his compositions. It's called "After The Rain" and is quite good. It always reminds me of the UTCM-OST. Others records by Clare ("Latin Patterns" etc.) are very jazzy. Got to www.clarefischer.com - U can order a copy of "After The Rain" for 15 $. I recommend it.

Clare Fischer has been around for a while as arranger. In 1957 he recorded an album with trumpet player Donald Byrd, who he met at Michigan State University. The album was canned by Warner Bros and only released in 1982 on the obscure Trend Records label (Donald Byrd with Clare Fischer and Strings - "September Afternoon"). It's syruppy easy listening with a twist. Fischer worked with Byrd on funkier tracks in the seventies (125th street band).
Fischer probably made a lot of easy listening/jazz albums in the sixties and seventies. A funny one is "Great White Hope! (And His Japanese Friend)" on which he is portrayed as boxer. It's an album with experimental Yamaha organ/synthesizer music. A title like Fuzz Blues and Music of the Spheres gives you some idea. Fischer was ahead of his time in 1970. In the liner notes he said about the title:

"I'm so tired of the rhetoric of 'white-this, black-that, yellow-this, etc., that I thought I'd make jest of the whole thing. This was done in good humor and as far as I'm concerned any reaction to the contrary will be a manifestation of negativism which should be treated soon!"

Clare Fischer did the "orchestration" on Rags to Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. I think it was their debut. One of the band members then was Andre Fischer, presumably his brother.

They first started collaborating on Parade. Clare Fischer is all over that. After Parade he makes sporadic appearances everytime Prince needs real strings, which is not that often. One or two tracks per album at most, like Still Would Stand All Time on Graffiti Brigde and Damn U on prince. He also arranged Prince's failed orchestral attempt. Forgot the name.

They actually starting collaborating on The Family album which Prince wrote all the songs for except 'River Run Dry' which was written by Bobby Z. and also features Clare's arrangment. Anyone who's heard the original mix for 'Nothing Compares 2 U' knows that Clare literally saved that song.

No Clare arrangement on 'Still Would Stand'. Sounds like Prince sampled some of Clare's strings and triggered them for that song (he did the same thing on 'The Rainbow Children'), but Clare's arrangment is featured on the title track of Graffiti Bridge.
