ONA...L's Overdubs

I just bought ONA...L last week and have been going through it pretty slowly. So far, my standout faves are: Xenophobia, Extraordinary, Other Side..., Family Name (settles the "Prince's best bassist" debate in my opinion -- Rhonda!) and Anna Stesia.

I also can't stop listening to Strange Relationship. But, with every listen (and there are many), I become more aware of the degree to which this track has been (and, conceivably, most others) touched up.

There appear to be at least 2 bass parts and at least 4 keyboard parts -- in addition to what sound like a drum track (which, to be honest, Johnny B. may have played to live).

Sure, it all sounds GREAT, but it's still a bit of a bummer to me that P felt the need to "tweak."

Phil

renato adds many a bassline, and drum loops are often used live.

i have only noticed two or three overdubs on this album.
