I LOVE this EP. "Sunrise, Sunset" reminded me of something this whole time, and the last time I listened to it I realized what it was.

I felt it sounded like a familiar showtune or soundtrack. At first thought of "Fiddler On The Roof". (don't laugh. "Sunrise, Sunset" was the name of a song on that soundtrack).

I was getting somwhere, but then I realized what it really reminds me of. This music - especially "Sunrise, Sunset" reminds me of the music in Jesus Christ Superstar. I truly wondered if Prince watched the movie prior to creating this music.

Anyone else relate to what i am saying?

OK. I guess no one else here has the well-roundedness or spiritual insight I do.

Got it smile

I am also reminded of Fiddler on the Roof every time I hear Prince's 'Sunrise, Sunset' biggrin This was my first thought when i heard the song.

And I also love this EP.

Yeah, I got that the title was the same as the song from Fiddler On The Roof (we sang it in Chorus Class in middle school) but the music sounds nothing like Jesus Christ Superstar. To me, anyway.

Not the main song from Jesus Christ Superstar. Have you watched the whole film?

Seen the film many, many times, seen it performed live numerous times, and sang some of the songs in school. So, yeah. lol

It wasn’t until I watched it again recently and was listening to the Deliverance EP recently and well, that I recognized the playful resemblance Sunrise Sunset has to JCC. It’s definitely got a showtune sound to it, for starters.

Definitely a Sunriiiise Sunset vibe, and JCS rock opera thing going on, especially the end of Touch Me before he launches into Sunrise Sunset and "the illusion of you draining my soul" line.

The opening sounds like something, I don't even know...something off the Big Chill soundtrack maybe?

YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!

That is what I mean!!!!!!!!!!

Touch Me"!! I forgot about that until now!

It's actually the whole song, moreso then the end, though. That's the one that remindsme probablyu the most of JCS.

I don't know The Big Chill soundtrack. I will have to check it out.

Thank you for recognizing what I mean!! I know I'm not alone in what I'm hearing.

Edit: just listened, and actually the whole song “Touch Me”! SO showtuney and JCSey!

The Big Chill is probably a bad reference here, I just can't think of the exact songs, it's just sort of a style of Joe Cocker kinda bluesy rock.

Yeah I think it's the rock break that kicks in during "Overture" from JCS that sounds like "Touch Me" but I forget.
