I saw that Neversin post and of the four versions described none matched what ultimately ended up on SOTT SDE, no mention of the extra vocals etc. who is this Neversin anyway?
version #1 = full version without "Welcome to the Crystal Ball" outro This is what we got and this is what Neversin predicted we would get.

Some traders said he told some close to him that t he version on SOTT SDE is a slightly shortened/edited and badly mixed version of the full version #1 he posted in that list.
The original full version is a bit longer. Don't take my word for it but that's what Neversin apparently told some people in a private Discord group.

I love Emotional Pump. A lot of ppl have commented on how this song didn't work for Joni Mitchell, but I believe Prince was signaling her work with bassist Jaco Pastorious. The song is seriously funky.

I don't even like the song so at this point in exhausted that Prince spent so much time doing one off edits of the thing.

But I gotta say, I'd have probably taken any version over this chef salad version. That ending is not something I ever want to listen to.

1. Emotional Pump - Glad this great song is finally released
2. Rebirth Of The Flesh (with original outro) - Another favorite and glad to have it in good quality
3. Cosmic Day - Good song and I like the guitar solos
4. Walkin' In Glory - A nice song and new to me
5. Wally - It's ok but nothing special
6. I Need A Man - I like this song
7. Promise To Be True - Another great song I never heard before
8. Jealous Girl (version 2) - I'm glad to finally get to hear the full version. But where is version 1?
9. There's Something I Like About Being Your Fool - Wow such a great song and new to me.
10. Big Tall Wall (version 2) - The best version imo
11. A Place In Heaven (Lisa vocal) - It's decent but prefer Prince on vocals
12. Wonderful Day (12" mix) - Boring
13. Strange Relationship (1987 Shep Pettibone Club Mix) - A cool mix

Because it was recorded during the Controversy era.

I love it. It takes soooo many of the best parts and turns the dial way up.

Typically I don't even like most remixes. Maybe I don't like any. I don't enjoy the Hot Thing or HQ ones. Maybe it speaks to the strength of the material. Or maybe Shep just liked this song better and really leaned in cuz man I dig the hell out of this remix.

I hate all those Shep Pettibone remixes with those horrible effects and stabs, I'm glad I grew up in the 70's and 80's and followed turntablists. I would have rather seen a real turntablists remix Prince's tracks than these Shep Pettibone kind of people.

This is the only track on side B of LP 10 of the set. I got the CD set, so I’m curious to know if this side plays at the usual LP speed of 33 1/3 rpm? Just seems odd that there is space for another song or two!
There may or may not be something coming!

It's not the only song on that side. The longer version of Wonderful day is also on that side.

It was incorrectly listed when the tracklist and lp breakdown was first published.

LP 9 side 1 is brilliant. All 4 songs are 10/10.

My favourite LP side on the Vault selection LP's.

I am sad I can't get anywhere near the wavelength of people who like Emotional Pump and I Need A Man. These songs sound nearly the same to me. And there's a ton of songs from 87-92 that remind me of them strongly. What's the appeal? It feels so boring to me.

But I've become pretty obsessed with Promise To Be True and TSILABYF. And I find myself humming Wally a lot. That ending is just really great at this fidelity. Hearing his low register howls deep in the mix. The solo. A real grower for me but I'm pretty sold.

Listening to Wally, it feels like a combination of a Parade outtake and Adonis & Bathsheba

They are meant for folks that like to move them hips and can cut a rug. When I hear those songs I can literally see the dances I would be hitting on those horn stabs in the club.

What is taken for tape warble on Wally is intentional.

Prince is drunk, it is meant to convey that feeling.
