Good God

In how many songs did he say "Good God" ?

Live or on record. I know he corrected a fan on stage in '98 not to say it because it was "what I do"

LOL, that's a good one. I doubt anyone's going to take the weeks required to count them all!

I remember when Sheila E. was on "Saturday Night Live" in '85. She kept saying "Good God" during "Holly Rock" and all I could think was, "Hey - that's Prince's thing!"

I'm pretty certain it was a James Brown thing first.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

And how would you know how it was spelled in Prince's mind? Ohhhhh you wouldnt. So both versions are still legit in my question. He clearly took it as a trademark kind of thing

That sounds pretty low for "One the one!" In fact, that number sounds more like a "Vegas!" or even a "CONFUSION!" number.

An audit is in order. Please provide your backup and sources for these numbers.

Possibly the most "James Brown"ism of all, I really don't even think of Prince first when I hear the phrase and I normally would,, When Prince does it I think James.

"On the one," too.

But what did Sheila say when it ended....and did a very funky Minneapolis sound extended vamp?

.

.

It almost sonds like "Knee's drawers!" and the band says "Yo drawers!"

.

.

I asked her about it when I met her and she get all embarrassed and said "I can't tell you!"

My favorite "Good Gawd" version of it is probably the live recording of him singing "Baby I'm A Star" , recorded in Andover, I think.

And while we are at it, I think Prince was using this phrase as a praise of his God, not as a swearing, or cursing Him.

Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...

I'm pretty certain about that too, and I think we all know that James was an inspiration to both Prince and Michael.
