From penguinrandomhouse.com

'...The book is told in four parts. The first is composed of the memoir he was writing before his tragic death, pages that brings us into Prince’s childhood world through his own lyrical prose. The second part takes us into Prince’s early years as a musician, before his first album released, through a scrapbook of Prince’s writing and photos. The third section shows us Prince’s evolution through candid images that take us up to the cusp of his greatest achievement, which we see in the book’s fourth section: his original handwritten treatment for Purple Rain—the final stage in Prince’s self-creation, as he retells the autobiography we’ve seen in the first three parts as a heroic journey.'

Looking forward to this.

Also, having read some of the notebook pages at the My Name is Prince exibit while it was in London, I did wonder why the estate hasn't made more of that, and published them. Any one of those notebooks would be of interest to Prince fans, especially if there's some liner notes to put things in context a bit.

Ok wow - so it is legit eek The next 6 months of speculation about content on here is going to be out of control err

well, yes, because why would people actually read the press blurbs that explain what the contents
of the book are. that would be so un-org-like lol

no, instead we will get people who will be extremely pissed off come october 29 and they find out
that it's not 288 pages written by prince, but only perhaps 40 pages of his own writing, 10 pages
of pictures provided by him and the rest is fluffed out (hopefully in a beautiful, respectful way) to
document his life from a young age up to Purple Rain.

.

I'm going to speculate about the 50 or so pages written by Prince...

.

I would love it if he talked about the inspiration and process for recording songs. But Prince was notoriously reluctant to discuss that stuff. For example, he did an interview with Bass Player magainze where the jounralist desperately tried to get him to discuss the artisitic and technical aspects of bass lines from certain songs. Prince would have none of it and kept steering the conversation back to his spritual journey. I imagine this book will be the same. I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong.

.

Prince also wasn't one to discuss the private details of his personal life, so I don't expect there to much of that in his ~50 pages. I'm fine with that. I'm not interested in the drama or gossip of his life, which is why I haven't read any of memoires/biographies of associated artists. I'm more interested in discussions of the music, not his love life.

[Edited 4/21/19 16:19pm]

Prince handed over 55 pages... The rest will be never before seen photos, notes, lyrics, etc...

Uh I know that. Still total out to be 288ish pages per Amazon.

It's bittersweet to know 3 years and drifting further from his physical presence while we finally get to see what he was working on

Any of his personal touches & personal collections will be of a sentimental value to all of us

I do wonder if lyric/note sheets from what was displayed at both exhibit tours and ultimate experience tours will also be included in this book

I am also looking forward to when Madison Dube will officially release a book of his photos

That cover is fantastic.
That's what SKipper would have gotten in a wrecka stow at fourteen.
He was a pure seventies creature. The cover is true to who he once was.
Half-Gold, Half Faded Oranges, thankfully not rasta.
I bet the choice was already set, so I'm pretty sure
you're trashing Prince's own choice. That typo is Letraset® galore.
The embossed Prince handwriting is the nicest autograph.

Cool wallpaper. Looks like a mattress made of barb wires.
This is Prince coming up with the idea of the Dirty Mind cover background.
Not just a selfie. Trash it all you want. Ignore the perfect font.

Trashely up yourself.

PS: He looks kinda like a Marine, don't U think?

And it's a pretty nice neckalce for a guy who was too poor for McDonald's lol

However I don't doubt he had it tough at home...

I believe Prince's Friend's Youtube video says something about the fiorst part being Prince telling his story in "prose". And I think he said it was just the beginning of his life. As expected for just the beginning of the book being written.

However you bet I ordered a copy. Cant wait. Have to own this one.

This is the only book about Prince that truly matters. Not Mayte's book, not former girlfriends, musicians, hairdressers, janitors making their come up off of a dead man's 40 years of hard work, sacrifice, pain, creativity, musicality and musicianship as a teenager to his death. This is the first book since Prince's death that I will buy.
