3121 Sessions

I love this era.

Tracks recorded during this 3 and a half hour recording session on November 19, 2004 (producing 11 or 12 songs) are:

"From The Lotus..."

"3121"

"Colonized Mind"

"Wall Of Berlin"

"Planet Earth"

"Love Like Jazz"

"Guitar"

"...Back 2 The Lotus"

and a song called "Shameless" (this circulating?)

(I actually put the songs in this order as a playlist because it makes a really nice album imo...I recommend everyone to try it, really is nice anyway...)

Thats 9 of the 11 or 12 songs recording that night. Does any know of the last 2 or 3 songs recorded that night in 2004?

Anyway late 2004-2006 was a very lucrative (sp?) era considering the majority of 3 albums were recorded during that time period: 3121, Planet Earth, Lotusflow3r and even "Compassion" from 20ten.

What do y'all think of this era? Just curious but I'd like to see peoples playlist from songs of these sessions that you think would be a great single album.

Already made mine above just from the Nov. 19, 2004 sess. but I'm gonna try to make one using songs from all sessions from 2004 to 2006.

Pls pics late 2004-2006 smile. Sorry if I'm annoying just excited lol.

I'm more intrigued that Tamar was Prince(r.i.p.) SOLE inspiration for the WHOLE 3121 album.

A lot of it maybe...was he still with Mannie in 04-06? Anyway, what kind of playlist would you have from the 2004-2006 recording sessions?

Edit: What is the first sighting of his 3121 jacket? Was it 2004 or late 2005?

I read somewhere that by the time the Musicology tour was moving, he and M2 were pretty much done because he started realizing her BS. That and he'd already been heavily indoctrinated into the JW faith and was newly baptized and she was already disillusioned with the whole thing. I remember someone within the camp insinuating that to me around that time.

Yes he was! But Mani(whom I encountered by divine intervention)is THE ONE that filed for divorce right in the middle of the promotion for 3121. Which briefly put a halt to it. Plus Prince(r.i.p.) DIDN'T want to end the marriage & tried to save it. But beware the Mani haters will say otherwise.

I get more inspired by the way Prince(r.i.p.) segues his playlist together from each album.. I follow it to the book, since his WHOLE catalog is the soundtrack to my life. So I would NEVER mess with it. That's NOT what he would have wanted. EVERY song he saved to segue into each album was for a specific reason. So messing with that would ruin his complete concept.

I agree, I was just having fun making a playlist of just the songs created from that one day. Just in the name of fun and boredom lol. It does sound nice though, give it a try if you want to.

I was a big fan during this era. I got to see Tamar and Prince live at the Orpheum in 2006 and they were phenomenal. It was a great time to be a Prince fan.

You're lucky! I would have loved to see his 3121 concerts. Did he play the song "3121" often?

I think I remember he opened with 3121 at First Ave when I saw him on 7/7/07. I don't remember him playing that song alot but I do remember he played it on some award show that I recorded back then.

Forgot to add "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" is a beautiful song. It uplifts me always. Prince had an amazing heart...it is overwhelming to think of how many lives he deeply touched and inspired. I will truly miss that man forever.

I like that song but it feels like it doesn't fit with the rest of the album in some ways. Wish he would've kept "The Morning After" or "Streets Of Panama".

Think this may be 3121 era.

Anyway what is your favorite song from the 2004-2006 3121 sessions?

"The Word" is my absolute favorite from that time period. His vocal layering on it was underrated & unmatched. Everything seem to go wrong with the 3121 album promotion. That song had the potential to be another top billboard 100 hit. But at least he got a number 1 debut album from it. Luckily I was able to attend the Prince & Tamar hit&run shows, his performance at the 2005 NAACP Awards, the 2006 BET Awards performance of 3121,the ULTRA private, exclusive, BET Awards afterparty performance at the Beverly Hills Hotel,The 3121 Vegas run etc, It was fun times to attend ALL of it.

"The Word" is DEEP. This song has given me alot of comfort lately. I didn't realise the power of this song when it first came out.

U would have loved it! The Prince & Tamar show was reminiscent of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue with The Ikettes. Prince added "The Twinz" to the show for extra effect, with him just playing guitar and joining in every now & then. Of course everyone would have preferred just Prince(r.i.p.). But I liked Tamar(even though she fell on me after taking a tumble off stage and NOONE bothered to catch her).

The WHOLE 3121 album was VERY well put together. I also loved the concept of it & how Prince(r.i.p.) tied in everything together. Starting with the debut 3121 release day performance at the then famous Tower Records & ending with the Vegas residency that turned into his famous 3121 house parties..

Idk, for me the 3121 era starts late 2004-2007. Very lucrative years for Prince considering the songs he recorded in Nov. 2004 and the 2005-2006 sessions. The man had songs from these sessions span 4 albums (3121, Planet Earth, Lotusflow3r and 1 song from 20ten), cool as hell.

This 3121 era? Sometimes it is kinda hard to tell. imo it is either 2006 or 2007. IDk lol, what do I look for in determining the 3121 era? I mean I know generally but I still wonder on some pics. Like this one for the hair.

This was at the 2006 BET Awards I attended. The 3121 era.

I love the quirkyness of 3121 and was lucky enough to witness it live in Vegas. Wow. With the stage curtain not even up yet that bass line loudly boomed, over and over. After a few minutes the curtain started to lift. There, centre stage, was Prince and guitar. In what looked like a canary cage. Scratching that rhythm out with his guitar. Devine.

I'm surprised Prince didn't play "3121" after 2007. My favorite version is from Sept. 6, 2007. He plays bass on it and is funky as hell.

I love the tracklist is as but I wish he kept "The Morning After" on the album.
