Urn with Prince's ashes still in the building, 'just not on display' at Paisley Park

Prince has left the building. Again.

His ashes are no longer on display for tours at Paisley Park Museum. And fans are disappointed.

Yes, he's down in the basement in the 'pre' vault. If this is the way the heirs are thinking, why even have PP open? Why charge people $1000 for the 'Celebration'?

I really think that the older sibs are the ones who are really trying to keep his legacy alive. Sharon had a really good idea.

Omarr Baker, Prince's brother, says the ashes are still in the building, "just not on display."

Explaining the move, he said, "Three years is enough time to mourn. There's a season for everything."

As with many things involving the Prince estate, his heirs disagree.

I feel Prince(r.i.p.) was in the right place when PP was first opened & shouldn't have EVER been moved...But I do finally agree with Sharon.

The mausoleum idea is good, although $800,000 is too expensive and doesn't need to be purple.

I agree that Sharon seems to be the most sensible of the six heirs.

I thought the overall shock had died down by now. Heck you couldn't even see the urn in its casing. People are still complaining I guess. Yeah I have fears for PP for real.

If I had a say, I would put his ashes in the studio A control room in a place they could be seen but not in the way.

Your best bet is to have no expectations of anything. This is how I try to look at all of this as much as possible.

At the very least, no one can take away whatever your experiences of Prince were/are. They are yours and no one elses.

I heard it was more like 300,000 and it included imported white marble, amethyst granite, gold love symbol over the door and stained glass windows. I also agree that Sharon seems to be the most sensible of the 6 heirs. nod

I promise you that I am not trolling, I guess I'm just a little dark, but I think it would be cool if they pressed his ashes into pills with PRN on 'em and sold them in a necklace or bracelet.

Otherwise, don't really care about no Prince ashes. He's everywhere I want him to be.

Oh, obviously I'll live. But it is getting boring reading about wish lists and maybe this or that will be done, time for some concrete stuff.

That sounds beautiful.
It should be done. Put it in the backyard of Paisley, in a garden.
Turn that Egg into Paisley Kitchen and gift shop.

They should turn the Egg into a mausoleum. It's been empty since it was built. At least now it would have a purpose. A respectful interior remodel would be pretty cool.

.

(And then the family could charge $5,000 as an add-on to the tour to visit it.)

Why is it so difficult to upload an avatar?

I guess it's a matter of personal sensibility. Do you go to your loved ones' tomb? I certainly don't, it's meaningless to me, but other poeple need the landmark to pay their homage. It's all a matter of symbols and rituals in the end.

I remember once going to Jim Morrisson's tomb in Paris in 1992, out of curiousity. He'd been gone for 21 years yet there was a group of hippies, young and old, singing songs on guitar and smoking joints! And the stone as well as the other stones around it were covered with graffitis honoring the late artist. It was a funny scene to observe. Now 25+ years have passed since that day and I wonder if, nearly 50 years after the singer's death, you still have people on that gravestone every day or if the hippies have finally given up. Anyone been there of late?

Yeah i've been to Jim Morrisson's grave in Paris, maybe in 2012-ish? It was in some state back then. Falco's grave is by far the best one i've been to though!

But yeah, my pilgrimage would be to Paisley Park, the building itself and all that's in it are all I would need. I don't need to see Jim Morrison's coffin and I don't need to see Prince's ashes, you know?

Last year, when my American 24 y/o daughter and her boyfriend were visiting Paris, they went to Jim M's grave.

Her boyfriend is very interested in a wide range of music, ie., Radiohead, Metal, Indie, Hip Hop etc. but he also admired Jim. I was surprised he still had that type of' pull', especially on young folks.

When I was 18, I also went to his grave. He was a magnetic fellow...that voice.

I did see the urn at Paisley soon after he died. It was placed at ground level in the atrium and many would come up and cry.

I intend to re-visit but have no need to see the urn. PP is an amazing place, especially the studios

Graceland runs PP. At Graceland you have Elvis' grave that you can visit.

Most of the Presidential libraries have the Presidents grave that you can visit.

Yeah, I go to my families graves at least 4 times a year, maybe more. Some of you don't?

C'mon, they have stuffed him in the prevault in the basement...WTH? Is that all the respect that they have for him? The Urn was specially made for him, it looks beautiful. PP was his home, at least put him in his private living quarters, damn.

And as far as what Omar said about the fans need to move on, is that what they really want? Because people can always NOT come to PP or the Celebration. And if they want the fans to move on, why do they keep holding the Celebration? $$
