1999 DELUXE..25 October ?

According to our friends of the french forum (Schkopi):

(Special Thanx 2 JB)."

That's a good question because this message really isn't telling us anything, only: we were the first with the other releases, now we're the first with this!
We'll see...

so soon? they could have waited another two months and released it the last day of the year neutral

all these rush releases. we're drowning in new material. when will it stop? all these unheard,
totally new tracks. omg. can we breathe, please?

seriously though, they better announce remastered, expaned editions for all the warners LPs
at the same time, because at this pace. girl, please.

Jesus. When will they get round to releasing some new stuff. Could not organise a pissup in a brewery this lot. Our money is here to be taken - but no, here’s a weird doll and look over there, it’s vinyl. But it’s PURPLE. Any chance of normal vinyl for a normal price. Just as an option.

Close to its 37th anniversary, then. Hopefully they release some of the vault tracks as singles like they did with PR Deluxe!

As laughable as that may be, it’s pretty spot on imo.
We ourselves aren’t getting any younger. And the older we get, the less interest we’ll have.
Unless I get divorced and take up collecting full time.

Have the Violet reality reported on the legtimancy of this. I haven't seen it but may have missed it. They normally have the scopes, such as Versace and His Majesty's Pop Life reissues.

Why are they waiting so long to release it?
That's absurd, Piano and mic sold something like 100.000 worldwide, it s not as if the market would be oversaturated.
.
They are really dumb in marketing, that's amazing. All of this only to release tracks That are already on YouTube or the already released b sides. I m sure there won't be a live from this era. And even if there was one,it would be a low quality video, such as the live in Syracuse that was frankly unwatchable.
.
They should have released 1 deluxe réédition by months in 2017, it wouldn't have damaged sales. In the contrary, it would made them more visible in stores and then would have sold better than releasing them separately every two years.
.
I can predict the 25 the October release date will be postponed anyway, like the PR deluxe at the time.

I was set to disagree with you vehemently regarding releasing many at one time. They would need to squeeze everything out of a single release at a time. But ya know what, youre right. Nothing is going to effect the sales or non sales. If its out there people will get them if they want. This is what happened with Madonna and Van Halen reisusses a few years ago. VH releases were criticized for the remastering but still, they were all put out at once for the taking. They could release simple remasters of the WB catlogue and STILL release actual deluxe editions at later dates.

I hope it's true...BUT...I hope it means we get the album + B-Sides/Remixes + (most important of all) a disc of era-specific unreleased tunes.

I also must lend my voice in the chorus of those calling for WB to step up their game with doing Deluxe Remasters. Plenty of bands have had their entire catalog remastered and released in very short time periods...usually several albums released at once! Remember the Pink Floyd Remasters from a few years back? Those got standard, deluxe and (in some cases) boxed-set treatments at the same time. Releasing a classic album once every couple years is just not how you handle the category of someone like Prince. There is way too much material to just sit around on like that.

^^ Exactly!! They need to be putting out three Deluxe Editions a year,at least. Some of my favorite bands and artists have already had their entire catalogs remastered/reissued and it didn't take decades for it to happen, lol.

well, it's understandable that they needed time to sort through the vault, catalogue all that stuff,
convert tapes to digital etc etc.

so i'm not too mad that they haven't been releasing the good stuff, yet.

but by now they've had a bit of time to get things together and roll out a plan, a plan that it'd be
great if they were to communicate with us. the silence from WB is annoying at this point.

it's the most fabled vault in music history and as of yet, it's been 3 years and nothing has been
released to gobsmack both hardcore fans and general folk alike.

the rehearsal tape was cute, but that was about it. moving forward, those sort of things should
only be considered as an extra 3rd or 4th disc with a reissue (as a compliment to bsides, remix
and edited versions, outtakes and live tracks/shows).

People here thinking they needed like two years and a half to listen and release Piano and Mic are completely out of their mind.
.
It s just they need hardcore fans like some people here to do the job.
.
You would thought they do one reissue every two years because they market and hype them...but not even that !
.
They should have released one big album every 3 months, like it was originally the plan at Universal before they discovered they were screwed up by some lawyers.
.
Since Purple Rain deluxe was released on June 2017, they could have gone with 1999 in September and SOTT in December.
In between, they could have thrown up albums that only fans could care :
- ATWIAD in July
- Controversy in August
- the huge 1999 deluxe 35 th anniversary in September
- graffiti bridge in October
- Lovesymbol in November
- the huge SOTT 30 th anniversary in December
- Lovesexy in January 2018
- Batman in February
- The huge PARADE deluxe in march
- For you 40 th anniversary in April
- Dirty Mind in May
- A huge Prince deluxe edition in June 2018 ( the album is a good catalogue seller)
- Diamonds and Pearls in July

Etc.

iirc that whole deal fell through because warners made it known that they still owned the rights
to all 'their' stuff.

meanwhile, warners hasn't done fuck all with 'their' stuff and there's no word yet on wether they
are planning to do anything with it at all before the rights revert back to the estate/un2 sony.

Maybe thats their stance since the whole fiasco between them and Prince even with AOA etc. Not to give his legacy any shine ?

Oh well, easy come easy go. Maybe they'll go back to the drawing board and start doing proper research and reissuing stuff well for the people who actually want to buy it instead of trying to make a big event out of 30+ year old music.
