I had bolded LaurenceNoonan's post above and posted the lyrics to Prince's In This Bed I Scream which was dedicated to his main musical collaborators/band members during the Parade era smile

The little decending bass lick before the saxophone solo gets me every frickin' time. I never get tired of hearing it!

Who's the private d*ck that's a sex machine to all the chicks?
Who's the man that would risk his neck for his brother man?
Who's the cat who won't cop out when there's danger all about?
John Shaft ... Damn Right!

Love the live, laid-back version from the Burn It Up boot. Wish it was in better quality.

Never heard it, will have to track it down!

I'm still trying to figure it out as well.

LIke 1982-1986 exploded a hole in time and blew a mark that is never finished

Yeah I got that part, I think what LaurenceNoonan and I were talking about was bigger than that.

Oh course the whole Prince scene/camp etc is a part of that.

Could be, but Wendy, Lisa and Susannah were his main collaborators during that time, along with Eric Leeds and Clare Fischer smile

I know that.

But when I keep getting pulled back to grandness of All the Critics Love U in NY, Computer Blue, God the love theme/the dance electric, Erotic City, Screams of Passion, Conditon of the Heart, America, Tamborine, Go, Power Fantastic, Last Heart, Heaven etc I'm dealing with something bigger than, who colaborated with him. Of course that is part of it. It could be partially the feeling of 'unfinished' business and all the possibilities along with the grandness of the music etc. I'm just saying sometimes I don't try to 'label' what when get that kind of feeling. Timeless comes to mind, but that isn't enough either. Electric, comes to mind but that isn't enough either.

The best for sure. There is a magic to that time that was imo never quite captured again.
