Joy In Repetition- Version- Question? Anyone remember?

So.. If my memory is correct- around Fall 2000 or early 2001... I had a version of Joy In Repetition that I had to have gotten from the Music Club. It was a studio version that was the same arrangement as the 1996 Vh1 Emancipation Celebration performance. But no crowd noise- a few seconds longer. Does anyone remember that? In my copy- the “legal” download may have burnt incorrectly or the song was weird in that- it had the- in the alley over by the lyric, line- repeated twice. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. It’s not the ONA live version or anything else. Thanks for your input!

I just found a bunch of cds from that time period and Club downloads- like Breathe- Madrid 2 Chicago- like when those came out on the club with a few tracks from the ONA piano album in early 2002- before the album etc. Such an awesome time for us fans.

Your first reflex should have been to check Princevault and my website. If you do you will see there's no such version. It happens that either I or them miss a rarity, I'm sure there are still a few really rare edits that neither I nor them have tracked down, and of course there's the problem of the numerous and impossible to track down promotional live snippets aired on TV channels around the world, but apart from those rare edits and live snippets, if neither website has it you can be 99% sure it does not exist. Certainly, a full version of JIR from an official Prince website would not have slipped thru the cracks for 18 years.

.

What you describe is not familiar to me but it's most likely a fanmade edit (the "mistake" would be explained) based on the MTV performance, or something from a bootleg, and my guess is that you got it from Napster or Audiogalaxy, which were quite a jungle back then with all sorts of fakes circulating (NPGMC did not exist until February 2001 anyway).
