Glitch CEO Anil Dash on Prince's Decades Online

ESPN on-air personality Bomani Jones, a huge Prince fan, had Anil Dash on to discuss a variety of topics, and he offers about 20 minutes of real great stuff on Prince, going back to the old AOL chat room days, which I remember well, and his personal and online dealings with Prince up until the end of his life.

Starts at 55:00 mark --

I'm twitter pals with Anil Dash. We've traded notes and messages over the years. He's such a cool guy, a husband, father of amazing little 8-year-old Malcolm, and a tech entrepreneur. He always has great views on Prince and MJ (and Janet). While some bash him (those who don't know him), I, for one, really wish he'd do a TED Talk on Prince - something specific like the impact of SOTT post-Revolution, or his spiritual awakening with Lovesexy; whatever floats his boat.

Seems like a decent guy and genuine fan. I chuckled when he talked about the AOL chat days.

He is an ardent fan like the rest of us. His detailing of correcting mislabeled facts is pretty great (even down to the debate over the sounds on "If I Was Your Girlfriend" before we all figured it out). He is a great guy.

I heard some of the talk - is there some way to get in touch with this guy? It sounds like we share a lot of common interests...? smile

LITERALLY, the first statement I made. He's even verified so you'll know it's him.

Who made up that myth? Just cuz Prince didn't own a cell phone doesn't mean he didn't use a computer. TheDawn.com was around a very, very long time ago in the eaaarrrly days of the internet. I still lived back home when that was out, which was probably 1996 or so.

I couldn't tell you. People like to use that when they want to think he wasn't sophisticated enough to know his way around the internet lol

He basically did, I'm guessing someone already posted this here:

Yep, that's the event I was thinking of.
