Anyone think Prince left a pre-recorded video message to his fans, something he would have planned for the future and its now lying around in Iron Mountain. Wonder if Michael Howe has found anything and if they would ever release such a video?

I do not think there is any such message. He did not like to live in the past (although he carried Purple Rain with him always in some way shape or form), but neither did he like to live in the future. If he had thought about it, he'd also have had a will....

I think that the question of how much recorded material is out from 1977-1994 is a matter of particular time periods/eras. I'd say that the stuff from '77 through '82 is probably 50% out there. The stuff from '83 through '89 is maybe 75% and the stuff from '90 through '94 is back down to 50%.

For example, if you look at what's *known* to be recorded in the year 1980 it is maybe around 25-30 songs, including everything on DIRTY MIND and THE TIME album and known b-sides and outtakes like GOTTA STOP (MESSIN' AROUND) and BROKEN, etc. A few short year later in '83 and '84 he recorded like 80-100 separate songs for himself and proteges.

Did Prince suddenly become way more prolific in '83 than he was in '80 and '81? I don't think so....I think we are going to be shocked at what we DON'T KNOW from the late 70s/early 80s.

Whatever is happening I hope it has something to do with a 1999 deluxe edition. One other song I really really want to hear is "Streets of Panama". That song was on the late 2005 configuration of 3121 and really interests me. Really want to hear it or something. Then I can make that playlist a reality and see how it flows haha.

Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

'Streets of Panama' is one I've always wanted to hear too.

I don't think it will be out for a while. Someone here said they were still working on it.

I thought people were mostly happy with Disk 2 of the Deluxe set in terms of track listing, but given everythng that was left out like All Day, All Night I don't know why.

A certain kind of mellow.

.

Based on what? There has been next to no info about this release beyond the initial press release and even that one made "2019" sound more like a "maybe" than a "will certainly be released that year".

I could be confused on the March thing, which is why I asked. I was definintely confused that the sticky is gone. As someone who doesn't have an extensive collection of bootlegs because for the most part I've wanted to wait for the official releases, it's esepcially frustrating that so little new material has been released. Nearly 3 years later and they haven't even managed to make all of the previoulsy released music avaialbe to people, although it's a lot closer than it was.

If there are no official releases, and it doesn’t look like there will be any for sometime - then why not go the bootleg route, and get the official when it’s out? Someone somewhere needs to pull their finger out as this is a masterclass in how not to monetise and protect the legacy.

I have collected some stuff over time, but it's hard and time consuming to track stuff down, and the quality isn't always the best.

I enjoy disc 2 of the purple rain reissue immensely. Some of the songs I already had, but in poor quality, so hadn't really spent much time listening to them.

I know there is also a ton of stuff floading around out there that I don't have. I keep holding out hope that the vault will eventually be released. It's bad enough that so much music wasn't released in Prince's lifetime. Can it really be the case that his lifelone fans won't see it released in any of their lifetimes either?
