Okay All - I need to make a confession....whilst feeling in need of nostalgia, I decided to look up said unused ticket stub.....and guess what????? I fucking went to the concert after all!!!!! My unused stub is for 1992 at Maine Rd, meaning I'd already found Maine Rd once before! Now I'm really confused - I have two ticket stubs but I'm not sure who I went with or how I got there, but it was two years later I picked up the hitchhikers. Sorry all. My bad.

Interesting is a good way to put it He was certainly never dull in his fashion choices. However, I don't think he would have made the "best dressed" list with this one

Does anyone think if there were no dancers/less focus on chorography etc that Prince might have focused more on rendering songs that were not featured on the tour? I sorta felt this about the Parade tour too

I think that would have been the case, and the tour would have been much better. I was never a fan of having other dancers on stage with Prince...I don't mind some choreography with other band members though, like in the '89 SNL Performance of Electric Chair.

It is defintely an outfit that only Prince could pull off. I did like the PJ period around 86. I like the outfit and Prince pulls it off. Just interesting style(?). Don't know if that is the right word.

ROME — In 1990 Prince embarked on the “Nude Tour,” a no frills greatest-hits concert tour in Europe and Asia which brought the star singer/songwriter to the Simonetta Lamberto Stadium in Cava de’ Tirreni, near the Southern Italian town of Salerno.

Here’s how Italian music impresario Sigfrido Caccese remembers that balmy July 18 night, a performance reminiscent of Prince’s final stripped-down concerts.

“He was alone on stage. The band was practically hidden behind him. Prince performed non-stop for three hours and never stopped singing. He also never said a word to the audience,” says Caccese who was 25 at the time.

“Prince moved like an elf, in front of a gigantic pulsing pink heart which was the only piece of scenery, and the symbol of the tour.” “It was all about the music, nothing else.”

Caccese said that Prince was “very shy, surrounded by bodyguards.” But he still managed to shake his hand, before one of them pushed him away.

The day before his performance, Prince did a very long rehearsal. “He asked everyone to leave. He didn’t want anyone around, not even the roadies.” The next day he requested a piano in his green room. “He spent more than two hours playing that piano without ever stopping. He played some of the songs on the tracklist, improvised others, and covered tracks by other artists. We were in awe: the sound reverberated everywhere backstage.”

In terms of ticket sales the concert was a flop. Only 13,000 tickets sold for a giant of that status. Two days later Prince was supposed to play in Turin, but that gig was cancelled. Caccese recalls that some say the cancellation was due to the Naples venue owner blocking the “Nude Tour” trucks because he had not been paid. “But that’s not true,” he says. “I think Prince just wanted to get out of Italy, maybe because he was disappointed by the flat sales.”

I remember the movie House Party, and Kid N Play and the cool pajama sets and hightop fades, and Prince turned it up a notch with Versace. Wait until he blows past Kid with that Typhoon do.

I always looked at the '86 outfits as crop-top lykra pantsuits more so than PJ's. They fit snuggly...in ALL areas The 1990 Versace outfit has more of the PJ look for sure.

The outfit is not as bad as the beard though. The longer hair with a clean shaven face - as he appeared on SNL in Sept '89 was perfect. He should have held on to that look.

I'm headed to Tokyo this weekend for my annual work trip. I have a bird's eye view of the Tokyo Dome every year, and when I"m there I can't help but reminisce about the incredible Nude concert show there. Wish I could've been lucky enough to see it.

If anyone knows of any Prince-y things to see while I'm there, please let me know! I'll try and get myself to a 'Tower Records' at some point; they looove Prince there.
