Yes he was already working on music for the movie in 1987. He was already dealing with Madonna in 1987 about the movie.

YES/YEP

.

If the 1986 split didn't happen we might have gotten When The Dawn of the Morning Comes instead of Graffiti Bridge

And trust me, The Dawn etc would end up just as messy/silly as GB was.

I don't know, it would have been much different. The events that led up to GB are a very different timeline. I would take the WTDOTMC:Coco Boys vs Mazarati chance

That would be as corny as GB imo...GB we had The Time in it at least. The Westside Story stuff? eww...with GB we got JIR, QOU, Thieves, E&F, Still...

we don't know. Things were still good in 1986-1987

and we would have gotten better music from WTDOTMC than in GB

I still would have rathered the single film by the Time than GB

  • Touring the US with Lovesexy
  • Grafitti Bridge (enough said)
  • Leaving WB
  • Writing slave on his face
  • Not touring the US with TGE
  • Emancipation (2 discs too many)
  • New Power Soul (enough said)
  • 1999 to 2003 (take a your pick, too many to mention)
  • 3rd Eye Girl 2011-14 (horrible band and era)

he did tour the us with lovesexy. 3rd eye girl was not that bad, if nothing else, no one had played the little red corvette solo better live, not even Dez who wrote it. that counts for something in my book. AOA was a solid album, can't say much about the live shows because I didn't see much but what i did see I was impressed. his reasoning was sound, feed off of young vitality, old musicians have experience and polish but no fire and they are jaded so he did the right thing feeding off of new blood like a vampire, it worked.

I know he toured the US with Lovesexy (I was there) the tour was a commerical disappointment, half the shows didn't sell out. He SHOULD of toured the US with SOTT (1 top 5 hit, 1 Top 10) going into the fall of 87 he was was on fire on the pop charts and Hot Thing and Adore of the R&B charts. Instead he toured with a weak ass selling album (half not bad) and a weak tour. That was the beginning of the end for Prince...

I agree that he should have toured with SOTT in the States. That album had so much going for it.He did give us the concert film, but nothing beats the real thing.

you are correct...after seeing the SOTT movie at least a thousand times and then seeing Lovesexy...I was like...wait? What just happened here? I was 17 and a senior in HS when SOTT singles we're on fire. Ugh...same thing with TGE, he toured Europe and we got the weak L4OA tour...

I feel for my fellow american orgers.
I confirm. Lovesexy live was fantastic.
But SOTT, it was beyond description.
My heart skipped a beat on every bass drum kick. The sound system was phenomenal.
Eric Leeds is right, it was a big machinery already.

Totally embarrassing!!!! What is JB?

The bootleg video of the James Brown show with MJ and P, where Prince can't manage to get anything from a guitar he borrowed from James' band, then does a few silly dancesteps to save the day, then quickly runs away and almost falls when getting out of a stage because he's holding an unstable prop.

Exactly. That never happened.
