Prince Estate Accused of Failing to Pay Up for Paisley Park Appraisal

Prince

The Prince estate has been hit with a creditor’s claim by a company who says they were hired to appraise the singer’s famous recording studio but were allegedly never paid.

This story that appeared in CURBED might be of interest to the managers and curators. The article is about the challenges of home museums and historic preservation. How it changes with the interests of the public over time and trying to cultivate that interest. All these things that never occur to a person.

Rethinking the modern house museum

How these historic sites can cope with costs, challenges, and societal changes in an Instagram era

By

I thought this was especially interesting--

“A historic home is a time machine,” says Columbia’s Otero-Pailos. “It’s the closest thing we have to a time machine, so we have to design that time travel in a way that registers with people.”

He argues that the challenge of future preservation is suspending disbelief, that ability to set the stage so you can enter into the time machine. Visitors want to experience what it’s really like to live in the house, to feel like the owners may have just left to do some errands. That’s why Otero-Pailos, who has been called an experimental curator, often focuses on the entire sensory experience of a home; adding perfume and scents, leaving cigarette burns on a midcentury home (last year, at the Morgan Museum and Library in Manhattan, he experimented with adding scents that helped add historical meaning to the space). He believes comparing home museums to traditional museums does them a disservice; people want to soak in the experience and surroundings, not wait in a queue to cycle through an exhibition and be pushed from painting to painting.

"Hold on to your souls y'all. We got a long way to go. Thank you! We love y'all!"

It is odd that Comerica has not paid the appraisal fees.

$45k is not all that much considering they have been paying millions in attorney fees.

Was Prince’s Tuck and Caicos estate sold? It was on the auction block.

.

So bills not being paid when Prince was alive was not his fault, it is simply because of general cluelessness when it comes to anything related to Paisley Park?

.

Or...?

Sorry for my cynicism, but I ahve decided after a shitty Greatest hits re release, an underwhelming rehearsal album and a fair remake of Purple Rain with one disc, I am no longer supporting the estate. It is just a pack of money obsessed parasites, willing to milk the fans for all they are worth.

.

Fans we need to stop supporting these estates, avoid their shitty albums, avoid the over priced merchandise and avoid their take down of Prince content on YT and suing of the bootleggers.

If that's carried out then the unreleased Vault music will NEVER see the light of day.

We HAVE to support Prince's legacy. Turning your back on The Estate IS NOT the answer.

Also Prince before he went into his afterlife was ADAMENT about his fans disrespecting his legacy by bootlegging & unauthorized content on You Tube.

A thought occurred to me today. What if instead of dying , Prince became so incapacitated he could not handle his affairs? The same people who covered up (thus enabled his pain pill addiction) would still be in charge and /or his heirs. That would be an ongoing heartache with all his fam praying for a miracle. Prince would eventually wind up broke and the attorneys rich.

I haven’t bought anything yet from the Estate, still waiting for some of the items I want to be released. Guess the associated people will get my money until then.

Maybe. And this is a big MAYBE. He had a POA, which becomes null and void when someone passes but is fully active when someone is incapacitated.

Two and a half years and counting. Sooooo much money spent (wasted) on legal fees. It's never going to be "over". Until the money dries up. And it will eventually at this rate. Then what will they do when there is nothing left to fight over. It gets more complicated as time goes on too. Is anything getting sorted, or even close to resolution??

Actually it's not getting more complicated as time goes on.

Most big issues have been sorted out and that is why we rarely see anything filed in Probate Court.

The issues now are whether the fees paid to Londell and Charles should be returned to the Estate and whether Bremer Trust should be allowed to be discharged.

I've seen a few more documents where they are pro se instead of an attorney's name.

Only Omarr is represented by an attorney. Actually the one attorney that charged less than the others and is young.
