What happens when you give artists the same fabric, same color, and same inspiration? The result is an amazing variety of ideas! All the pieces in this collection are created with Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabric. Artists took inspiration from Prince, the late musician from Minnesota (also home of Cherrywood). Would love to see other examples of the quilts. Too bad I can't attebd the exhibit.

Go to the link Genesia gave. They show all of the quilts. They are amazing. I think they have a poster with each quilt on it.

Not sure, or if it was sanctioned by the estate or family. It does say they will donate a portion of the proceeds, but, not sure if that applies to the just the entry fees, or the stuff they are selling or all of it:

To honor Prince's philanthropic history, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Crossing Arts Alliance, and other charities.

There is now a poster of the quilts for sale:

I saw the poster, it was nice and very well done.

Far Flipping OUT....

there is some Serious LOVE thats gone into these...

Anyone who knows anything about quilting will tell you

that you can never fnancially compensate yourself equal to the time spent...

I've always admired the skill and time that goes into quilting. That's a lot of dedication!

I know there will be naysayers ....

But, I agree. I was surprised to see this on the news this morning. It made my day in a way. I've known 2 quilters in my life so far. And, I know it takes time and dedication. Up to 2-6 months of time depending on how intricate. They are so dedicated to it and they go into great detail. To know that there were close to 400 people across the country who took the time to build a quilt honoring Prince, made me happy for a moment. And that is worth it.

I see many quilts that should have been in the top five!

For the naysayers that posted in this thread....let's see you do better. The hours that were spent doing these particularly if they were hand sewn; they were truly a labor of love. Lest we forget we all don't see images, pictures, etc in the same way. Just beautiful.

Holy Moses! I was highly impressed at the thought there being just the one in the first post. These are simply astounding for real, I would love to see them in person.
