My understanding is that it's not available due to a plagiarism lawsuit over the song in Italy.

The big companies like WB and Sony aren't going to work for free for any artist to release music. The estate can't afford to do freebies either given the tax issues and PP maintenance. The heirs won't do so either. It all business for them, none of them created the music so they don't have that same investment in it that Prince did. It's all about the money, as is the case with most everything. I am not villifying any of them for that, this is the world we live in.

[Edited 10/2/18 15:10pm]

You are not Alone was never banned from streaming, digital and physical format because of the plagiarism lawsuit. Why would Sony do that? It s all about authorship, and the label has nothing to do with that. . So this is not about freebies at all since there is no question that Prince estate won t make money out of TMBGITW. Prince wrote the lyrics for instance, and some parts of the music. . If it were all About the miney, the estate (whoever it could be) and WB would have signed an agreement in the days following his death in order to make money fast, and see howit goes After. . If it were all About the money, they would n't have waste more than a year to release PR deluxe (Without the first avenue live!) .

Well, I seem to be losing the train of thought here but that's fine because I don't have anything more to add really. I do think things are more complicated though when speaking about how business dealings are handled when an estate is in probate (and very complicated and extensive to boot)-but I'm not a lawyer either so can't speak to the specifics on that lol

[Edited 10/2/18 21:25pm]

I do understand that the estate was in probate, and it was to détermine who would constitute the estate (since there was So many claims of paternity for instance).
.
But, IIRC, the estate in probate was ruled by à judge or something. Signing à contract for some releases for à limited time (let s say à year) wouldn t have been impossible because it s in favour of the future estate. Itvserves them to pay the taxes.
.
Free to them After that limited time, to renégociation the contract or to put a term to it.
.
I think that what made my program for instance to not be released ( PR deluxe in June, à greatest Hits post 1993 in september, and the last concerts in décember 2016) was the members of the estate Who Couldn t find a quick agreement between them. One wanted this, others wanted that, some hoped to make more money by signing with another label than WB, etc.
.
That lead them to let go the momentum of his death, making future releases less and less attractive, with the market shrinking more and more as the time goes by.
.

No, as indicated, 59.000 = sales (physical + digital) + streaming (aka équivalent sales).
.
What à bummer, I know...

That's actually a little lower than expected to be honest, it deff will drop dramatically by the second week.

compared to PR DELUXE numbers it sold 51,000 just in the U.S. alone for it's first week sales, grandfather some original purple rain sales into that figure which is unknown, but piano and a microphone sold a little low for world wide numbers.

PURPLEIZED3121

quite happy with these figures. It's an old demo of Prince at the piano from decades ago. It will be in the catalogue & sell across the years albeit in smaller quanitites. This is a hard core fans release that many of us had already so the exposure through endless promo in the last 2 weeks will have hopefully given the rest of his catalogue a boost?

Curious to see how other similar packages from other artists sell ie Hendrix legacy releases etc.

No boost at all, Purple Rain, usually charting, is not in the top 200.
.
And since 4ever was released, it cannibalizes the sales of TVBO. Conséquence of that genius Idea, none of thèse album chart anymore.

Lol no, HDD made it clear they accounted only the deluxe 2 and 3 CD version, not the original album. I already posted you numéros Times the links to HDD, Billboard and Soundscan.
.
Hence the huge gap between HDD numbers (33/37k projected) and Soundscan (48.000).

.
The original album that infamous week was #1 on vinyle and sold more than 6000 copies on indépendant mérchants alone.
.
It probably sold about 9.000 copies on vinyl alone that week and 2.000 more on CD/ digital.
.
But anyway, 30.000, 50.000 or 100.000 copies is à complete bummer. This could have sold 150.000 copies in June 2016, with even less unreleased material in it !
.

Absolutely not, not for a new release. Losing more than 88 ranks the second week is rather Unusual, and Will make the next Guiness book lol

Yes, most of the physical sales of PR are in the vinyl format.
.
I bought the deluxe édition of Piano...1983 and I thought, it should be counted twice in the charts because you buy two Times the same album.
.
And I Wonder if HDD didn t count the deluxe set this Way, which would explained the discrepancy of more than 5000 copies with Soundscan numbers.
.
This should be that way, it is less farfetched than to highlight streaming sales over the Real physical sales.
