Wow. I think Prince would’ve been proud of this. Beautifully made, in all aspects. Who directed this, anyone know?

Latin

“The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life…”.
Prince

The messaging in this video links thematically to Prince’s past activist work in Baltimore in 2015 and the resulting riots that ensued in the city and beyond. That year, Prince released a protest song titled “Baltimore” – along with an accompanying documentary style video – directed squarely at the need for more compassion and peace, an ever-present theme he echoed through his career. The “Baltimore” video ends with the above quote, which Prince delivered during an impassioned speech at his 2015 Rally 4 Peace concert. This video begins with that same quote, a symbolic reminder underscoring Prince’s earlier messaging and a timely reflection on the need for positive change.

Directed by filmmaker, Salomon Ligthelm through Stink Films, and shot in New York City, the video pays tribute to the scores of teens and children affected by gun-related violence every year in the USA.

Powerful video. It compliments the emotive tone of the song well while connecting to a topical subject.

Prince strayed from the truth and it cost him his life. It's a tragedy that he's been made a slave in death.

Stunning video, it complements the song perfectly and it is topical. It deals with the same issue as Baltimore, so I think Prince would have approved. But I’m with Omar on this one... this is someone else’s artistic statement, not Prince’s.
Anyway, very moving.

JWs believe that all governments are corrupters controlled by Satan and that the only way forward is with the coming of God's Kingdom. Near the end of his life, when he was in the throes of addiction, he drifted away from the truth and was flirting pretty heavy with spiritism which is a big no-no.

Prince thought he was bigger than the truth and that he could augment God's word. He was wrong.

Now his corporate masters are crafting a new narrative out of his life and work.

I'll explain even though people aren't actually interested in an answer.

Prince never really conformed to the truth. Even at his most religious publically, privately he always had different rules for himself. He always thought that since he was blessed with musical talent that he was ordained by God. For the most part, the things he sung about in his songs and talked about in interviews were in accordance with the truth...even if his private life wasn't.

When Prince reemerged in 2013, that changed. He started talking about how the people in charge needed to listen to the people (instead of the correct answer of listening to God's word), jamming himself into social justice groups and augmenting his religion with new ideas. Posing with the eye ring over his heart. Etc.

To his credit, he did this in Prince-ways where he still wasn't toeing the company line. He invested money into teaching low income kids on how to code, thought Black Lives Matter was a fashion issue, told people in Baltimore that he wanted to stay in hotels they owned the next time he came back and still refused to participate in politics even if he resigned himself to a Hillary presidency.

Now that he can no longer defend his image, he's a slave in death. Any nuance he had in his beliefs have been wiped away. The ruling class is bending his image and work to fit with their narrative.

I am curious, can you describe how the ruling class is bending his image?

^ I could give an example of that. If you've seen the propaganda fest BlackKkKlansman you'll be shocked at the fear mongering ending. Spike Lee sold out a long time ago and I was pissed at the garbage he pulled at the end of that pseudo-true story. Really, most of it was BS, "artistic license" be damned, they played with the facts and want people against eachother in that blaxploitation wackness.

To add insult to injury, they cue Prince up within seconds of the offending material to try and strike a resonant chord emotionally and influence the audience. The song in question of course is Mary Don't You Weep. He is being used. Note Prince didn't want his financial backing of Spike Lee's Malcom X biopic made public either. He's being roped into this identity politics nonsense; to fan the flames.
