Most of Black had been recorded in 1986 as Camille, early 1987 for Sheila E's birthday and the last cuts were June 1987. Prince carried over When 2 R in Love on to Lovesexy, but the rest was recorded after this.

Lovesexy's 8 other cuts dates from late Dec 1987 through to February 1988. Alphabet Street dropped as a single in the middle of March and was still fresh then. It was amazing how quickly it was cut and songs like the Line were even left off.

Actually only Rock Hard In a Funky place is a Camille track that was connected to the Camille project

the rest were un attached songs connected to Sheila E's Birthday Party music
