I WISH we could get the 9:45 version in pristine quality. sad

It has the Linn Side Stick PREVELANT in it, and oddly the 'extended' part is all *before* the actual song (usually on his extended versions it is after).

i hate the keyboard/synth lines on this song...its like it doesnt fit with the rhythm parts... makes it sound like 2 different songs are playing at the same time in some parts... this song and "Moonbeam Levels" are very overrated IMO

You realize this was released officially last year and is easily available at streaming services and online retailers, right?

That's what I'm sayin'. These boolshite threads about "I've never heard 'When Doves Cry', is it any good?" manure. Trolling, trolling, trolling. Even if the OP didn't buy the record, like TwiliteKid said it's on every damn streaming service.

The OP is lying.

I have never understood the love for this song. I think it's just okay. shrug

It feels demo'y to me. That aside, it sits between a couple of eras, for me. While it was recorded in 1982 and worked on in 1984 (probably), it feels like something would be out a bit later; maybe 1986/7/8. I could almost hear it on SOTT next to "Forever In My Life" or on Lovesexy after "Alphabet St". Just somewhere in there. It feels like "Anotherloverholenyohead"'s cousin. That mid-tempo yumminess that he can execute so well (although "Anotherlover" is more complex & interesting with chords or harmonies).

There is also something pulled back about it that reminds me of something Vanity 6 or Apollonia 6 would have on their record.

In general I like it. The "...iate" stuff is fun, too.

There is a 9:45 version?! I need this! What version of the song is it, 82 or 84?

The interplay between the bass, rhythm guitar and keyboards on this is wonderful. It's a hell of a groove. Mesmerizing.

Me too! I always felt that this song should be on SOTT instead of the mediocre “Hot Thing”.It is a better, stronger track.

For me, "IT" is the replaceable or ejection-worthy track.

I'm not sure which version it was built from... I just love it. I had a really muffled version (which is probably the one that was circulating)... I've been trying to find a cleaner version ever since.
