Confirmed: My Name Is Prince Tour Files For Bankruptcy.

Yesterday it was reported that Paisley Park was struggeling financially with the tours as well as the My Name Is Prince tour...

A thread was created yesterday, which has now been deleted, and Drfunkenberry claimed the reports were not true and posted a very vague q&a without a source negating the reports saying everything was fine with Paisley and the My Name Is Prince Tour... Well as of today Housequake has confirmed with the organizers that the My Name Is Prince Tour has indeed filed for bankruptcy...

This fuels speculation if Paisley Park is really in financial limbo or not...

Housequake Update: We received confirmation that the organizers of the My Name is Prince expo in the Netherlands has filed for bankruptcy. They needed a lot more visitors for getting a break even.

Housequake The London expo was far from profitable. As reported they needed 30k more visitors for a break even.

So they planned for X number of visitors a day and didn’t get them? Who’s ran these exhibits? Was Graceland involved or did the Estate contract out to someone?

Edit: saw this comment on Twitter about the UK exhibit.

In London it was massively popular. It was next door to an Elvis exhibition at the O2. Both times I went, for every one person going to Elvis, there were at least 20 or 30 going to Prince. Even I found it surprising. The tickets sold so fast had to double the length of the run.

I wonder who’s feeding Housequake this info and how much we can believe it. If they received confirmation from the organizers show us the statement.

Are you seriously asking this? How do you think they determined the entrance fee? Hell, I bet the places where this was organised demanded an upfront visitor estimate.

its funny that q&a yesterday really answered nothing... you can see they are indeed having financial problems because the estate is so out of touch...

Confirmed by who? Housequake didn’t provide a statement and gave no sources for their UK rumor. I’m not saying they’re wrong, we don’t know. But I sense there’s a whole lot of “fams” who want all this to fail because they’re smarter than everyone else and only they know what Prince really would have wanted. rolleyes

The Prince estate need money? Hmmm, what sort of things would they have access to that they could sell to us fans. I can think maybe candles? T-shirts? Possibly some jewelry but I'm really struggling to think of anything else they might be able to sell that I might be interested in and would generate revenue for them. rolleyes

Right I’m sure the Estate is purposely not releasing music because they don’t want money they allegedly need. Because that makes all the sense in the world.

Anyway you look at it...PP isn’t going to be a major tourist spot. MPLS isn’t a big tourist destination (except for Prince fans).

If only they had something they could sell that all Prince fans would want to buy. Ooh, what about tambourines?

ideally London exhibit should have been opened in central London ie Leicester square area for obvious reasons, but I guess space was limited & would have cost a fortune?

Personally I would have done it for shorter stints around the world....but what do I know!

Likewise P. Park....open it for a limited amount of time during summer perhaps?

There must be potential. And I think Prince tried to tap into it.

Of all the possible travel destinations this world has to offer, the Wall Street Journal has declared Minneapolis as one of the very hottest for the coming year — and the only one among the 10 in the good old U-S-of-A.

The national newspaper best known for reporting on all things money last week placed Minnesota's largest city fourth among its 10 "hot destinations for adventurous sophisticates, curious foodies and deep-pocketed beach bums."

The Journal's synopsis of the merits of Minneapolis focused exclusively on how it is "now luring curious foodies" and gobbled up 13 James Beard Award semifinalists this year.

"When Gavin Kaysen, chef/owner of the wildly popular Spoon & Stable [211 N. 1st Street], opened his modern bistro Bellecour last spring [in Wayzata], he booked 1,000 reservations in the first 24 hours," the newspaper noted.
