So yeah, that happened today. Lunch with THEE Wally Safford!! What an unbelievably humble, funny dude. Crazy thing is, we were members of the same Detroit church and knew each other in passing for almost 20 years. Never knew he was THAT GUY and he never tried to flaunt it. I went to college with his wife whom he recently took to Paisley Park where she REALLY learned who her husband is (she really didn't grasp it and had been low key throwing shade) until tourists from literally everywhere wanted to meet and take pics with him! Today he indulged my sporadic brain and fiftyhundred questions! He knows SOOOOO many people and is an open book, I had NO IDEA he was with Prince BEFORE Big Chick from 79-87. They had a deep connection. Definitely agreed that what happened would not have happened on his watch. He agrees that the estate needs to release on dvd is the Detroit Parade Birthday show! He has stuff he wants me to hear!!!!

Wasn't it Wally that sometimes does FB or Instagram live videos? He is pretty fun.

one of my fave interviews post 4/21/16 has been his. after listening to the interview it made perfect sense why he had Wally around. Warm, intelligent, funny guy who could give prince some grounding with the new life he was living.

I wrote to him on FB telling him just how much I loved his interview, he wrote back right away.

Billy sparks has some good interviews too, and it was someone recently who said Billy was one of the kindest people he met in the Prince organization.

one of the things that was apparent that Wally did not keep up with the music once he left the stable. he mentioned hearing Come On and Chelsea Rodgers (there was third song he mentioned too, but it's escaping me at the moment) for the first time during the tour of Paisley with his wife. i was like, man, you've missed so much good stuff!
