I was at the University of Minnesota "Prince From Minneapolis" Symposium back in April. I gave a talk there about The Vault.

During the keynotes, it was mentioned that they'd been working on the symposium since before Prince died with the idea of presenting him the Doctorate at it.

Glad to see this is happening!

Richly deserved. It's a shame this couldn't have been presented to him in his lifetime. He qualified for it a long time ago.

On the other hand, it's still better than Czech discussions. Were it written in my native tongue, everyone would say something about refugees, Soros, politicians, Jews, Romanis, etc.

Wow I just looked. So many judgemental people out there. It is very sad. But still there are still so many who love him, understood him and recognize him GENIUS. I love that man and always will. And I'm greatful to him for the joy he brought to my life.

It just makes me sad especially if the comments are coming from fellow Minnesotans. That’s not how most Minnesotans feel I promise.

A truly deserved honor “in recognition of his remarkable talent, enduring influence in music and his role in shaping the city of Minneapolis.” cool

The University of Minnesota should offer a course in compassion for drug addiction. Such ignorance and disrespect...

I was going to post the same. Minnesota, especially Minneapolis, loves Prince. He knew that. So its all that matters. Internet trolls will never cease. Goes with the territory. Still breaks my heart to read such ignorance about such a great individual. Very proud to count myself amongst his fans regardless.

Wow, those comments are harsh. My favourite is the one that says he did music that can't be played in "polite society". You just know that the moron who left that comment must be great fun at parties.

Anyway, it's a nice tribute to the man.

I wish I hadn't read the comments. They're so hurtful I have no words. What has he done to them? And where is his music in those comments, it's like his only achievement was to OD. I thought this would be a positive article, why is there so much hate in the world. We all make mistakes, we all learn, we all fall and we all DIE. He gave so much, where is THAT?

The comments section reveal the worse of society and the internet. I’ll bet they all came from a bunch of bitter old people who don’t know the first thing about Prince or his music/life.

More like bitter young people that don't know the first thing about his music...some sound like students. The ones bitching about how he never went to college are especially pathetic...he didn't have to, he was brilliant. Such arrogance! sad

Exactly. Why would he even need to have gone to college? I bet he's been far more successful than any of those guys making snarky comments.
