Video: 'Le Petit Prince', dedicated to celebrating the genius of PRINCE

Here is the video "LPP: Le Petit Prince by Troy Gua":

"'Le Petit Prince', or 'LPP' is an ongoing art project dedicated to celebrating the genius of Prince Rogers Nelson by Troy Gua, began in late 2011. This is a slideshow of the project's choice images as of Summer 2018."

Troy does amazing work. Blows my mind that someone is that dedicated to getting it right. Well done!

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Troy posted a LPP in a phone booth, that is truly heartbreaking. It depicts the story of Prince calling his dad to come back home and his dad wouldn't let, and Prince started crying.

If the estate wanted to make some money they'd partner up with Troy and market Le Petit Prince!

They are very beautifully done and I believe he is making them even better now. And they are sensitively done. But I still have mixed feelings about them. When P was alive, he disapproved of the dolls and made it a bit of a nightmare for him to release them and profit from them...This caused Troy to eventually post on his facebook a long diatribe against Prince calling him an "asshole" after he had just read Hahn's book. But he continued the dolls anyhow. I thought that was kind of weird..(I would find it tough to obsessively work on the images of a man I think is an asshole.) Prince dies and now Troy is getting attention from P's associates and people want to buy more and more of his dolls. Now, either P's death caused Troy to reassess his views of Prince as a man especially after discussing the matter a bit with P's people..(I hope this is the case.) Or Troy is just self-serving and doesn't feel any different about Prince and knows now that P is dead, he can do whatever he wants where these dolls are concerned. One thing else to consider is that in many of the earlier pictures, he arranged the dolls within the frame of his picture to be exact representations of the original photographs. Kind of reminds me of andy Warhol painting over other people's photos. I am not sure the legality of all this, but I do imagine it might have complicated things. I really wish I knew what was in people's hearts..and that these dolls are coming from a place of compassion rather than artistic revisionism for the purpose of self promotion. Sometimes I lean toward the former (after all, they are beautiful and the dolls after P's death are vignettes of his life with more original thought than some of his pre=death images) and sometimes when I think back to 2013, I start thinking the latter.

It has to come from a place of love from Troy. His attention to details and even making sure the little clothes are ironed. He always shows his work in a respectful light.

The only problem I have is I can't afford them. sad

I will say that the older dolls prior to P's death might have been more about what Prince represented as an artist than about the man himself. Maybe the more recent pictures/dolls are more about the man. They do seem a bit more original and compassionate.

I do think that maybe P resented the dolls because he thought Troy was making fun of his height by creating little dolls called The Little Prince. And maybe in the more paranoid state of mind he seemed to have more frequently in his later years, he was thinking that Troy would be try to release a line of dolls to profit off his likeness.

This guy's work is amazing.

It would be great if someone at Paisley Park contacted him about adding a room showcasing all of these.
