Moon Drops

I seemed to some how miss this instrumental from 3rd eye girl.

What is it like? Worth tracking down?

I never understood the "is it worth a listen" type posts. How are stranger's opinions about an unheard song relevant to your ears? Find it and judge for yourself.

I think you missed the subliminal message in my post. I have looked but with no reward.

Being able to listen to things has become difficult. A couple of groups have been shut down this past week. Our very own former member LauraRichardson was a member of these establishments and when she got kicked out of them (like she did here) she reported to the proper people and they had to be pulled. sad

When they released those instrumentals (this as well as Menstrual Cycle, Octopus Heart and The Third Heart Of The Octopus Menstrual Cycle Originally Dropped From The Moon), it came almost as a parallel 3rdEyeGirl project, with Plectrumelectrum being announced as a garage record, and those jazz-rock tracks seemingly taking the band in a whole new direction. I really had high hopes that we'd get more of those and that Prince would record a whole album of such material with the girls, but unfortunately it didn't go anywhere. After the Xpectation/C-Note/NEWS phase I really wished that Prince would pursue this more experimental, instrumental side of his work, but he apparently wasn't interesting in doing this...

.

That leaves me to wonder, however, how many things like that were recorded with the girls: I wouldn't be surprised to learn that those jam sessions led to a great deal of improvised tracks like those, and that there's enough material in the vault for a couple of instrumental 3rdEyeGirl records. I'd love to hear all that stuff nod

It's all subjective as to "better", but, EYE tends to "remaster" their releases. Sometimes many of us (me included) prefer the tracks to sound as is without EYE's (or anybody else's) tinkering for "improvement".

I love the Moon Drop instrumental. Along with Midnight Blues, Octopus Heart, Menstrual Cycle, and The Third heart of the Octopus Menstrual Cycle Originally Dropped From The Moon, the 3EG tracks that were played on 3rd Eye TV are much more interesting than most of what appeared on Plectrumelectrum.

This was on Alex Hahn's page, Make the House Shake.

Again, it seems like it all started with Laura Richardson, turning everybody in.

I have heard rumblings that the PRN Estate Special Administrator, by and through counsel, is sending cease-and-desist notices and the like to certain persons.

I am curious if anyone has specific examples of such a notice being sent to any particular person or group who satisfies ALL of the following criteria:

(1) is engaged solely in commentary and expression concerning Prince and/or his music; (2) is making absolutely no direct effort to monetize or market their activities; (3) is not commenting on specific bootlegs or other unauthorized releases; (4) is making absolutely no use of any trademarked logo or phrase that might reasonably be an asset of the Estate; and (5) is engaged primarily in commentary about Prince's music, as opposed to focussing on the death investigation or circumstances of Prince's passing.

If anyone satisfying all of these five criteria has received a cease-and-desist or any other written notification from the Special Administrator (or counsel therefore), I would be interested in speaking to them via a private direct message.

By way of clarity, I am not offering to provide any legal representation nor legal advice to any such person.

I am, rather, potentially interested in engaging in thoughtful public commentary on any activities of the Special Administrator, or any agent thereof, that I believe hinder the legitimate non-commercial expression of any person.

Finally, this post is on my own behalf and not that of any other administrator or moderator of this group, nor the group itself.
