Precisely my rant.
Where's Brent Fischer?

Do you think Questlove is par to Brent's father as an arranger?
Hope I'm wrong for those willing to go. But if there is someone up to the task, that's Brent.
And where is the AOA Way Back Ensemble? The Estate is run by people who don't even understand, let alone grasp Prince's work.

Brent Fischer is involved as an arranger. Please see details in the articles posted on this thread in reply #5 and #27.

That'll teach me.
Well then, I sure hope his involvement is not pure P.R.

I'm going to the Atlanta show Sept. 15. I'll be honest in my review. I have high hopes that there will be a great visual show that the estate will have as part of the musical part of the show. To have some of the footage of when P was performing on the road or at PP would be worth the event to me.

Hello kiki5490! This is my first time posting on the org but
I lurk often. I am a lonely prince fan in Lawrenceville GA. I hoping to attend
The show on Sept. 15th in Alpharetta. I have friends who like some of P’a music but no one is a real fam so I’m alone on this. I was wondering if you would mind meeting up at the show.

Thank you for posting the video but that performance was woefully underwhelming.

It all sounded so meh.

I had no idea that they were going to use a school orchestra for these shows.

I went to see the show at Wolf Trap on 9/8. I was too focused on the show/music that I didn't even think of making a set list. I thought of it on my drive back home.

The Wolf Trap orchestra was excellent. It looks like each venue will be using their own orchestra but the band is traveling around.

Quest announced (pre-recorded) in the beginning of the show that they will be playing deep cuts during the first half and popular songs during the second half. The audience is encouraged to sing along.

They play videos along with the music - the first half were a lot of clips from UTCM. Most of the songs about 90%, they would put the title on the screen. They did play Venus De Milo (one of my faves) during the first half, they also played Starfish & Coffee. The second half, they played Baby I'm a Star, Take me With You - a lot of his commercial stuff. The audience was more hyped during the 2nd half because they knew the songs. The finale was Purple Rain along with a video clip of Prince playing along - I dont' know what concert it was from (the video). He had on a blue hooded outfit and playing a white cloud. It was very moving (to me).

💜

If the video was Prince wearing a blue hooded coat with the white cloud guitar it had to be one of the Purple Rain concerts back in '84/'85.

I figured they would do some from UTCM based on the music and Questlove is a huge fan of that music and film. What about songs from ATWIAD?

I went to the show last night...I would call this show beautiful and touching. I am so happy I went. The traveling band and the orchestra were amazing and it was very touching to see them, ages ranging from (my guess) 20's to 60's, jamming to Prince. It was a beautiful tribute show and I enjoyed every minute of it. 💜

I saw the show last night in Springfield MA and just wanted to share some thoughts with you all. The video, while appreciated, doesn't do the show justice. The sound is so good being there in person and seeing so many diverse people paying homage to Prince is just awesome to me. You can tell this show was put together with love and care and the people playing truly enjoy playing his music. It was such a treat to see so much Parade material being played. Sounds so good with live strings. Plus there were some deep cuts like snippets of Irresistable Bitch played along with a full Erotic City. Just that alone was awesome. Yes people can complain that QuestLove just chose hits but I tend to think that it was great that a show was put together at all. Opening with Controversy and give Automatic a full 5 mins was truly enjoyable.

But the highlight of the evening was clear, actually two highlights were there for me. One was hearing Prince's deep voice talk while his symbol was lit up. It was great to just hear him speak. But when the show ended with Purple Rain it was just magical. They played Syracuse concert along with the music. There on the big screens he was singing and playing his white cloud while the orchestra supported him For a bried moment in time I felt like he wasn't gone and he was there in the room with us. Just that moment alone was well worth the price of the ticket. I found myself quietly nodding in approval.

Go see the show in my humble opinion. Let this man's legacy grow and flourish. It's a very different kind of show and I really think it's worth putting on your calender.

Your all welcome for my review. Glad it brings smiles to people reading it. I just wanted to re-emphasize one thing. Since April 21st 2016 my heart has had a hole in it. Yes it has healed with time but it still feels bruised. Prince's music and message have been adopted in so many things in my life during his lifetime and since his passing. When he passed I felt a sudden rush of color escape my life. Life and eveything was just a little bit more muted. Yeah life moves on and we cope the best we can. But when I was at the 4U concert watching our guy fill the area with love and music I, for a few minutes, forgot about the emptiness and pain of knowing our man had passed. I felt him alive and ever present. For the first time in 2+ years I felt complete again. I felt the power of his music and felt whole. Trust me it was one of happiest moments of my life in the last 30 months. I didn't miss him because I felt like he was there! Check it out for yourself

Fantastic review. I would have no doubt that Questlove would organize a beautiful tribute and show. It's understandalbe that he would choose many of the Parade era songs, because they would work well with the symphoninc sound. He has been a Prince fan since 1980, played on stage with him, and they were friends. It is clear how much love he has for him. Glad it gave you a positive lift!
