I'm going to assume you're being facetious since we all know there is a video to this.

facewhat?

It's so bad. That giant eye looks like the cover of In The Court Of The Crimson King.
The staging is atrocious, it's a country song, what the fuck of a schmalzzy Rubber Soul weed's
Hello Kitty gets drunk in Las Vegas nightmare is that?

First of all, you don't edit the song. It's a crime.
There's no redeeming at the end, it takes the whole meaning out.
Scissors can't cut water.

Secondly it's a country song.
It's about home. Surely Prince didn't live in some daltonian pimp penthouse
complete with fake water rushing and a giant inflated Prince, several floors high.
Call our trusted agent for a visit now.

I don't think a video was needed. It's like "Gold".
Sure, who doesn't like to see Prince, but the songs are so visual,
I don't need yet another round of Prince trying to be Peter Pan meets Jesus.

"The Holy River" called for some serious cinematography, not this Smurfland Hallucination.
And it's a crime to ruin such a song for the public outside of fans.
I mean imagine a Groovy Potential falling on this as her first Prince video.
And shit hits the fam.

It's not Liberace over the Rainbow.
"The Holy River" is heavy stuff.

Prince doing Prince doing Prince has always been a bad idea.
No matter the yes wo.men around him that allowed for such a clip.
Way to ruin the album's charts potential, guys! Well done...
But I'm being faceted. fasheest! fashionista. Fathever.

Luckily, we were spared "My Computer" of such treatment.
I don't get it, the "Facedown video" is fantastic.
But even "Betcha By Golly"... Poor song,
and now it's the most unwatchable of all Prince's videos, for understandable reasons.
When it came out, I was so happy for Prince.
I had kids before he even tried,
so I was eager to see him jump bandwagons.
So no, "The Holy River" is like, too sacred for such visual atrocities.
It's Prince turning the page, like "Way Back Home", like "The Cross",
the same 7th Day vein.

I'll give you that: this Holy Schmoly River of a video matches the horrendous Emancipation 3CD box
quite well. Imagine you're a professional on Photoshop and the album
comes out, and there goes your friend asking you about prince latest album,

you put the music on, but you make sure you hide the wrecked wrecka sleeve.

That orange! That Black! The badly out of focus'd chain!
That thermonuclear landscape. Poor album, it didn't deserve it. It is bad already being a triplet.
I demand 3 times 2 equal 6 times 10 minutes of silence in memory of this visual misstep.
Maybe we'll finally find what it looks like. I sure hope it doesn't look like the cover of Emancipation, that's all.
And I sure hope in heaven, Prince is not five buildings tall, and he takes us tiny fans
in his gigantic hands by the bunch. It's supposed to be Yoda, not Godzilla.

When the artwork to Emancipation came out, it certainly attracted me and many of my friends. In fact, we used a variation of it for our Graduation Ball!

"Bob George"

"If I Was Your Girlfriend"

Actually, In take it back. I'm glad there isn't one. I like the imagnation of what it could/would be better than a definite image. That song itself begs for that.

For me? None.

I have never seen a music video I liked.... I have never heard a song via a music video that wouldn't have been better heard without a video attached, detracting from it.

Same here. He never embraced music videos -- the closest he got to something interesting was Rasberry Beret. I've read that he thought of them as distracting, taking time away from him recording. These statements were made about his peak creative years (80-87).

By the mid-90s, he was shooting home movies for Gangsta Glam.

While I have some appreciation for it (Prince was the only one who could boast about having a full complex as his home studio), and it's certainly cool to have a look at his office (well it's certainly better to be discovered than in the age of Dropbox), I'll trade my Gett Off VHS with any blurry Betacam of, say, the "Data Bank" session.

What we need is some footage of '86 in the studio. I wanna see him recording a song before my eyes.
Maybe it was too intimate a process. If they were some films of Prince recording (not the sempiternal "Partyman" excerpt), I think we would know by now, alas. Seems like rehearsals is all we have. So far?

I'm gonna change my answer to this. Woulda been his biggest hit since TMBGITW. Couple the cruising footage above with shots of them on stage performing and making eyes at each other and you've got a winner.
