What are you picks for WORST Prince Albums?

Prince had many 3-Star albums, some 4-Star, and even a couple 5-Star records.

What would you categorize as his (3) three WORST albums (of widely released material) ? I'm talking records with only 1-2 good songs (at most) that you can listen to on the album?

My List would be:

1. The Vault (worst) a middle finger to WB? I like "there is lonely". On "My lilttle pill" was Prince letting us know back then that he was a pill popper?

2. 20Ten (not far behind) "Sticky Like Glue" was a nice one though.

3. Musicology (subpar) 2 good songs, "Call my name" and "If I was the man in ur life"

No album with these brilliant songs can be considered bad:

It’s About That Walk
When the Light’s Go Down
There is Lonely

On the Couch
Call My Name
Dear Mr. Man
Reflection
What Do U Want Me 2 Do

The Vault album is very underrated just because of its back story and weird WB release.

Indigo Nights.
About once a year I play it -hoping it has improved with time.
It never does.
My least favorite.

Weird thread; those are great albums (20ten on rotation this week and absolutely lovin' it) and much better than, say, anything Adele, Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift will ever come up with.

yeah, apart from Kamasutra, this would be my pick, too.

imagine that he'd released the rock trio show from 29sept 2007 eek cool guitar

indigo nights has it's moments but it just doesn't do much
for me, at all. even '3121' is one of the more unimpressive
performances, sadly.

there were such a-ma-zing performances during this london
residency and yet the choices he made for the disk confused

which is why i keep returning to it once every year or even
every six months, to see what i'm not getting, if it's finally
becoming clear to me why prince chose these cuts about
so many others.

I've never played my Indigo Nights CD because of all the bad reviews I've heard.

So excluding that one, these are my three least favorite Prince albums:

1. HITnRUN Phase One - "Black Muse" is the only song I'd rate 5/5.

2. The Truth - Most orgers love this album, but I just can't get into it.

3. MPLSound - A sad attempt to sound like his younger self.

I enjoy listening to Kamasutra more than the above.

If a PRINCE album is "boring"... Then there is no need to even consider it a "PRINCE ALBUM". lol

You're starting this post off with fighting words! lol lol Prince has more than a couple of 5-Star records...

Parade, SOTT, Purple Rain, and 1999 are all 5-Star. Others can definitely be argued (Controversy, Around the World in a Day, Lovesexy, etc.)

To answer your question, I don't really have a worst list per se, I just didn't put the time in to come to love The Black Album or N.E.W.S. or Chaos & Disorder or Emancipation.

I love all of them nod lol, but if had 2 choose 1 I'd go w/ Indigo Nights too. I looked thru the book 1 time n listened 2 the cd 1nce as well. I think cuz I had heard the stuff a bunch on boots b4 n whatnot (my fault, of course geek), anyways it's in my closet somewheres, I'll dust it off some day... The rest of them all dope in my opinion. Just bumped Planet Earth the other day, still jams love.

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Not in any specific order, but these albums have zero songs I like:

HITnRUN Phase One

Art Official Age

20Ten

Albums with just one or two songs I like are:

HITnRUN Phase Two

Plectrumelectrum

MPLSound

Planet Earth

Musicology

The Rainbow Children

Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic

Oops. That shows how often I listen to both the HITnRUN albums. I know there is one song on each I like. "X's Face" is the correct highlight for me on Phase One.

It's not even close: Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. I pretend that P recorded and released this while he was sleep walking. It's the only way I could forgive him.

I'm not saying its Prince's worst album but i never really understood all the love for The Black Album(minus When 2 are...). I'd take albums like The Vault, MPLSound, and Musicology, any day over TBA.

Anyway, for me, the album i was most disappointed with has to be Rave Un2. I had some serious high hopes for that album and was pretty bummed after hearing it.
