Prince Guitar Question

Hey guys apologies for starting another guitar thread but does anyone have any info on the guitar Prince plays in the Rock And Roll Love Affair video?

Or is it another Prince custom guitar?

The fingerboard has his symbol inlays so most probably it was made him – but good question, I didn't notice that guitar before!

.
To me it looks like a custom made Godin, with an electro-acoustic body (hence the lack of magnetic pickups, so it must have a piezo in the bridge) with steel strings and the neck of a Godin electric. You can also see the straight pots on the upper body that are typical for Godin.

Exactly

This is his greenish Godin LR Baggs he had back in th 1993 ACT II Tour that had its fingerboard swapped for one incl symbol inlays.

Heastock and body have a mirror plate screwed (you can see the holes on the side that are not on the orginal Godin)

Cheers

Nice great info thanks. Anyone have any good pics of this guitar from the 93 tour? Or any nice clear pics of it at any time?

I clearly remeber he had this guitar when he was plaing 7 (can't find the pic right now)

Also, on this video, around 2'29 you see the foam green on the side

Finally on the front, the mirror has "lines" on the top right - these are the controls (for the piezo)

You misunderstood me, I'm afraid.
.

We've already established that it's a custom Godin model as I suggested originally. And Godin electro-acoustics have piezo pickups.
.
My question was: how do you know that Prince's guitar (which is obviously a custom built one, with the neck of a Godin electric that has a different headstock than their electro-acoustics have) have a piezo made by LR Baggs? Godin uses RMC piezos and preamps afaik.
.
I love LR Baggs pickups btw and I have a dual-pickup + preamp system installed in my Martin acoustic, it sounds great.

To me he customized his Godin LR baggs (which was perfect for live condition / feedback control and I saw with my own eyes live) he had back in the days - so it is not a custom made Godin.

I may be wrong but I frankly doubt....

He also used to have a Chek Atkins around same time

Maybe steakfinger can confirm or give its input.

OK, you're right, it is in fact an old Godin Acousticaster model, which did come with LR Baggs pickup and preamp, although Godin is using different electronics these days.
