Maybe, but to go from the campy, slapstick, sort of nonchalant feel throughout to then Christopher being chased down and killed are really two opposing moods. Either way the Razzies were inevitable confused

And yet Donald Glover just killed with This is America using the same playbook.

It's possible that generational timing is the differing factor. From just a general fan/audience perspetive with UTCM, they wanted more of the "Purple Rain" Prince, so many of them stayed away from the film.

Ya think? That's just one of the things geniuses do - then they move on. The only painting Van Gogh ever sold while he was alive was to his brother, Theo.

Well, the things you learn....also just made me think of Prince's unreleased version of Van Gogh, which I love. So, it's a win-win situation biggrin

Thinking about this further, I'd say the character he played in Graffitii Bridge is how he really saw himself and probably the truest depiction of his real self on the big screen.

I think that is the "self" that he wanted and aspired to be, but I think the "Kid" and the "Christopher Tracy" characters were in him as well - in terms his controlling/competitive nature and his sexual/erotic side.

I think the GB persona is what he was focused on at the time, but he was still that brooding, competitive guy, and still juggling women - his version of the "gigolo" lifestyle.
