Any Prince album in your all time top 10?

Would you place any Prince album in your all time top 10 albums by any artist? For me, Sign would be in my top 3 and Purple Rain/1999 might be in the top 10.

I kind of don't include Prince in my top 10 lists, its almost a separate list. I suppose if pushed I'd put Parade in there.

certainly but it depends on my mood, there are lots of great artists who can blow and reblow your mind if you take the time to listen. sometimes it's little richard, sometimes it's elvis, sometimes it's chuck berry or the beatles or mj, or springsteen. Prince was only one of a huge tapestry of great american music.

This is a fun question. My all-time favorite album is "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine. So there's one out of ten.

.

Then, in the following nine albums, I guess I'd have to put "Queen II" by Queen (duh), "Girlfriend" by Matthew Sweet, "Spilt Milk" by Jellyfish, "Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness" by Smashing Pumpkins...

.

And yes, I would put a Prince album in the mix: "Sign 'O' The Times". That's his pinnacle, to my ears. It's an audacious, sprawling musical journey. I listen to it all the way through multiple times a year.

I would definitely include Parade and Purple Rain, and consider SOTT.

To be honest, it's likely all 10 albums in my Top 10 would be Prince albums.

I mean IDK, I wouldn't know where to begin to make a Top 10 list anyway, I'd probably have a hard time making a Top 100.

And obviously, Prince albums have met a lot of competition over the years, I don't listen to them so often anymore, but regardless, they'd probably be the records I've listened to the most in my lifetime.

Except D´Angelo: Brown Sugar, Queen: Greates Hits I+II and Jamie Cullum: Twentysomething

all other 7 albums in my personal Top10 are from Prince.

And these are Purple Rain, SOTT, Lovesexy, Diamonds And Pearls, The Gold Experience, The Rainbow Children and 3121.

Parade, SOTT, and Purple Rain for sure. As has been said before, there is so much great music, but I find it hard to believe these wouldn't make my all-time top 10... especially if we can't use compilations...

If we could choose compilations I'd probably say Parade, Ultimate Prince, and The Hits/BSides would be in my all-time top ten.

The only non Prince to make my top ten would Todd Rundgren's A Wizard, A True Star.

Yes, I need to have something like a 2 album limit per artist for a Top 10 to be of any value.

Nice. I'm a Something/Anything man myself, but appreciate that album has more... er... wizardry.

Those wouldn't be my choices but I appreciate how outside the box you went with your answer.

I'm stranded on an island and all I have is a Crosley and ten LPs? I'd have a hard time leaving 1999 and SOTT behind on shore. I'd choose them over Purple Rain and Lovesexy based on length. Really I'd have a hard time choosing four Prince albums and four Stones leaving me with two places in my top ten for the entire 70s runs by Bowie and Stevie.

My 10 favourite albums of all time

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

Purple Rain - Prince

Abbey Road - The Beatles

Thriller - Micheal Jackson

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

Breakfast In America - Supertramp

U2 - The Joshua Tree

Band On The Run - Paul Mccartney & Wings

Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys

Born In The USA - Bruce Springsteen

If I did a Top 30 there would likely be 5 or 6 Prince albums in there.

No! lol

I meant I'd take Parade and then the other 2 might be compilations (Ultimate Prince and The Hits/BSides).

Parade, every note, I don't think I could give up. I'd get enough of SOTT and Purple Rain from the compilations. Though, I think I'd have very pleasant daydreams remembering Strange Relationship. biggrin

While not wanting to turn this into a All Time Top 10, I just couldn't resist here:

Kiss - Lick It Up
Prince - Dirty Mind
Danielle Brisebois - Arrive All Over You
Paul Stanley - Paul Stanley
Kyle Vincent - Solitary Road
Icon - Night Of the Crime
The Temptations - For Lovers Only
Blue Murder - Blue Murder
Michael Stanley Band - You Can't Fight Fashion
Girl - Sheer Greed

Who's the private d*ck that's a sex machine to all the chicks?
Who's the man that would risk his neck for his brother man?
Who's the cat who won't cop out when there's danger all about?
John Shaft ... Damn Right!
