Yeah, she said when she asked who/where are you? He said 'I'm gone' and she did like a movement with her hand like he ascended up the ladder or something.

.

I see Prince in a lot of the faces. I see his face/head on the Fink body as an older man. I see his face in the center robed character but of course that isn't how Prince looks feature or complexion, so I began seeing Jesse Johnson, who resembles Prince. But u see male, I see 2 possibly 3 robed women.

.

I thought that the ice cream lady was a combo of Sheila e & Vanity. The outfit is Sheila E's but the face looks more like Vanity(who also resembles Prince). Do you mean a female alter ego? Camille was a boy(or represented a hermphrodite), according to the Lovesexy tourbook story and a Yahoo 1998 interview.

.

Was 7 a big number in that 1977-1987 block of Prince time?

.

I always thought the old man might represent Prince's father. Then thought that was too easy an answer. I don't see Prince as the little child holding the flag.

.

We need a more definative from the artists lol

I'm guessing, just as with "purple", the number 7 was always significant to him. He mentions it in I Wish U Heaven too - "if I see 11, you can say it's 7"....

Prince told Jill J. that he wasn't on the cover? Then who are the three males in the purple and white hooded robes and the grey haired man in the white doctor coat? They sure look like Prince to me. I also think that the red haired person eating the ice cream cone is Prince (his Camille persona). I stand by my idea that there are actually seven Prince's on this cover (seven is a big meaningful number in his music)- the five I mentioned above plus the old man with the cane (an old Prince) and the little child holding the flag (a very young Prince).

I wish Doug would just give a full discussion about the painting. lol get it over with. no more teasers.

The thing is I don't think that is supposed to represent Dr Fink 100%. When I first bought the album I always saw Prince's face, as an older man. He really doesn't look like Fink. Look at the eyes. And the complexion is not Finks either. The guy in black reminds me of Charlie Chaplin.

Jill Jones said Prince told her the old man represented Jerome Benton when he go older. I don't know if a lot of this is Prince ascribing character to the images of the reverse. According to Jill, she said Prince said he was not on the album, so I don't think the guy in the cloud suit is Prince either. But that guy on the cover doesn't look like a white man.

Wondering if Prince was really being "straight" with Jill about the cover. Who knows...he definitely liked to create mystery - even with those closer to him...

I would be interesting to also get informtion from Susannah, Wendy, Lisa, Mark, Bobby, and Matt on what they may have known or been told about the album cover. My guess is that Susannah may have more detailed information, as they were very close at this time, and she also worked on the Dream Factory album cover with him. That girl needs to write her story!!!!

Yes, but we can hear/see Purple as being significant from the earlies days. The (since) Dawn and Purple(lawn) as early as the 1977 demo Leaving 4 New York. 7 mentioned in I Wish U Heaven 1988 is definately a part of the evolution of things, but do we hear the use of 7 prior to 1986? I'm trying to scan through lyrics mentally.

Yes, that is what he would do - rent out the salon. This has been discussed in Biographies. There's the story of Prince renting out a salon in DC, and it was mobbed because people found out he was there, and the picture of him coming out of a salon in London (I think) with Kim Berry, and he's holding a camera in front of his face to take pictures of the paparazzi waiting outside.

*

Earl Jones is thanked on at least one of his albums, so I'm sure he worked for him.

Oh yeah Earl was his main hair stylist from 1981-1990. I guess after Jill and Prince fell off, and Jill mother going off about Prince's treatement of Jill. Earl left the camp. It is still so interesting how by 1990 everyone from the early days were gone. Jill Miko Fink (Earl) gone that year. I think Levi and Alan left by 1992

Looks like Doug got that one directly from Clara Bow

Yes, I have no doubt the woman in the bikini and skirt is supposed to be Clara Bow on the album. I am inclined to base the images on the list that Prince gave to the artist. I guess it's possible that some of the other images could be Prince, but I don't think so. It's interesting that the girl with the Violin, from the picture that Susannah posed for, is the only one that looks exactly like the original picture - and it also was not on his original list.

Right, I wonder who came up with the idea of the female figured hills in the background?
.
Yeah the Susannah images is the only one we haven't heard of any background info.
.
This album cover has always been my favorite from the time I bought it in 1985. I got LOST in it. And the inner painting of the painted trees. I used to look intensly to see if there were any characters or imagery in there. Maybe Prince is peeking out at us somewhere.

Yes, he lost pretty much everyone from the 80's group by '92-'93. Then he began trying to manage everything himself. Then the fight with WB. Then the name change. Uggghhhhh sad

Well, either he just didn't want to be photographed in that type of personal setting, or Susannah has pics in her possession. I get the feeling that most of his pics with women were only the "posed" shots for PR and media.

Sheila E has never seemed to be sharp on giving details. Which is interesting for being a woman.

She tells stories in a very 'dreamy' state.

I know Prince had other hair stylists beside Earl doing hair for his camp. I'm guessing Earl was hired to do his hair, and possibly some of the other guys in the camp. Kim Berry stated she took the place of another girl (Tanya, maybe?) in around '91, and she had also been a hair sylist for Prince and his camp in the mid to late 80's.

I believe Kim was dating one of Prince's bodyguards, adn then with the lady who replaced Earl left, she took on the job. I think that was maybe 93/94.

There are men, gay men especially that can blow women away lol

But seriously After 1994 Prince cut his hair and it was short styles until he grew it out in 98
The only really 'elaborate' look was that 1991-1994/95 look which basically never changed. It was always that same 'typhoon' look. Then after 2001 he cut it again and it was short until 2013 when he started growing it out again.

I always thought a lot of his styles during 1998 look kinda 'around the way girl'. If Kim did that/those styles it wasn't really professional looking.

Purple (Violet) is the number 7 on the spectrum. In color healing it is used for the transmutation of vibration. It corresponds to the head.

red 1 orange 2 yellow 3 green 4 blue 5 indigo 6 violet 7

In Numerology, number 7 has the energy of deepening into oneself and distancing oneself from the world to go deep within.

It is considered the most spiritual number.

edit corrected to - orange 2 yellow 3

And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. Genesis 2:2

In the beginning God made the sea
But on the 7th day He made me
He was tryin' 2 rest y'all when He heard the sound
Sound like a guitar cold gettin' down

I'm not saying he used 7 and purple conciously, knowing they were connected. He was using a lot of purple in his imagery though, hitting the same vibrational level as seven whether he knew it or not. 7 is purple 'sign language'. Purple is the 7 vibration on the cosmic tuning fork. If music isn't transmutation of vibration, I don't know what is.

I agree.

.

The discussion of 7 stems from kingricefan thought that there were 7 Prince's on the ATWIAD cover. Which I don't see. And I'm trying to scan through lyrics pre-1986 to see if he used 7 directly.

In listening to some of Kim Berry's interviews, it seems that she tried to do whatever style he decided he wanted at that time. She has talked about the braid phase in 1999/2000, and stated she hated that and tried to talk him out of it - especially when he requested the matching ribbons for each braid. She also stated she tried to talk him out of cutting his hair short after the '99-2001 period. He told her, "it looks good when I play my guitar, but I'm done with it"....or something to that effect.

*

I liked some of the look in '97-98, but not the look in the picture above. Kim said he asked for highlights during that time. There are other pictures/interviews in '98 where his hair is dark again, and it's a little longer in the front than in the back (GMA interview '98 and Spain interview '98). I like that look. I was not a fan of the "typhoon" - especially the backward bandana. Also, did not like the really short look in '93-94 period. But it seems he made the style choices and Kim followed his requests....

Yes, true about some gay men being able to style hair better than women. I watched the Chris Rock docu "Good Hair",and the first and second place winners of the big annual styling competition were men smile

7 means nothing in that one, it could have been 888, as long as it was Dez Dickersons home phone number lol
