"On July 29th, 20013, the album was released."

Jeez, a blog from the future!

Glad to know the estate will still release Prince music in 18,000 years!

I wish someone would speak abot how that session went on, how they prepared it, what instructions Prince gave, how much overdubs, etc.

I was devastated when the Eric Leeds Prince Podcast reached its end -and God was it a great interview!- and they hadn't addressed NEWS at all. Unless I missed an interview somewhere, no one ever really told the story of how it went sad

Madhouse 8 is still my fave Prince instrumental album. Such clever arrangements/compositions and Prince’s multi-instrumental prowess is on full display. Critics got caught up into the bs “Is it Jazz?” argument, instead of just evaluating it on its own terms. I once read a positive review in a Jazz magazine that was published before the critic knew it was Prince lol.

It is cool to see this project develop a loyal cult following and later day respect.

I'm curious too. I love, real love, NEWS.

I read some times ago that musicians were playing and Prince told them in earphones what chords play, if make a solo or not, et ceterae. Eric Leeds interview.

I love it too, one of my favorite Prince records.

If it's online and you ever remember where it was, I'd love to read it nod

I remmeber upon release the Prince net snobs were crackin on him stating that it wasnt "real jazz." As if Prince was tryna be Charie Parker.

Excellent album. A gem from one of Prince’s most “reclusive” eras.

Such a great listen! My ex(whom hated P by the way) used to listen to Cirque de Soleil soundtracks and one mellow Sunday, I snuck N.E.W.S. into the rotation. After awhile, she exclaimed that she "really dug" it. I said "thats Prince!" She was hooked from then on...

It was online but, damn, I searched for an hour and I can not find it. I really do not remember if was someone here in prince.org or an Eric interview.

Thanks for trying. Once, about a decade ago I'd say, the engineer on NEWS (Jess Sutcliffe I assume, or was it Joe Lepinski or Takumi?) came on the org and did a short Q&A with us before announcing that their lawyer had told them to stop right there for they were breaching their confidentiality agreement. Could it be from that one? I don't remember much of what was told unfortunately.

Unfortunately I've never been able to find that thread again. I wonder if it could be that it was deleted by the mods at the request of this engineer?
