i've done something similar with several periods. it's nice to listen to outtakes or bsides
in the context of an 'album' or playlist, rather than just going to one outtake at a time.
i tend to put a few songs i don't like in those playlists, because many times, in the flow
of that list, you get to know them better or in a different setting they sound different, if
that makes sense.

here's one of my favourite playlists. it's my 'alternate crystal ball' with 85/86/87 tracks.

01. The Rebirth Of The Flesh

02. Dream Factory

03. Good Love

04. Crucial
05. Come Elektra Tuesday

06. Sexual Suicide

07. Splash
08. Alexa de Paris [12'']
09. Emotional Pump

04. Coco Boys
05. Girl [12'']
06. Adonis & Bathsheba
07. Big Tall Wall

10. Train
11. Others Here With Us
12. Old Friends 4 Sale

and one that i've been playing absolutely to death lately is the 88/89 one,
for some reason these songs come to life when they sit next to eachother
rather than being just single outtakes you play sometime.

01. The Line #2
02. Yo Mister
03. The Max '88
04. God Is Alive
05. Love 89
06. By Alien Means
07. Fuchsia Light
08. The Voice Inside
09. Cool Love

10. Bang Bang

11. Cookie Jar

also, i'm going to try what you did, by grouping together songs arranged by the date
on which they were recorded, since you can hear the progression from that. that's a
great idea thumbs up!

i think the first 7 flow really well into one another and it's almost like an album.

the remaining tracks, not so much lol but they all share a similar sound, yes.

it takes a bit of copying and pasting, that's all. i've dragged all of them into the itunes player
to make a playlist there. but the actual files are still in their original folders, all over the place

this is a pretty brutal transition though lol it goes from one of the most light hearted, silly fun
songs into one of his most grown up sexy seductive yearning songs.

somehow i liked that transition, despite it's jarring nature lol

Ahhh, Empty Room....one of my absolute favs. Someone just posted a short "Dream Factory" (or as I like to call it, the Wendy, Lisa, and Susannah mix smile ) playlist on YT, although one of the songs included is A Million Miles, which we know was part of the Appollonia 6 record, but it sounds good mixed with the other songs. Here's the list:

*

Dream Factory

Witness 4 The Proscecution

A Place In Heaven (Lisa and Prince version)

Neon Telephone

Movie Star

Last Heart

Train

A Million Miles

Teacher Teacher

All My Dreams

A couple of weeks ago I made a similar playlist, although I called it All My Dreams:
All My Dreams
Train
In a Large Room With No Light
Adonis And Bathsheba
Go
Cosmic Day
Wally
Come Elektra Tuesday
Emotional Pump
Good Love
Coco Boys
Empty Room
Old Friend 4 Sale
(And then for some reason, although it really doesn’t sound right) Can I Play With U
If the estate released this as a new album it would easily become one of my favourite albums!
