What is the biggest amount of money you have paid for a prince album?

What is the most money you've paid for a Prince album? For me it was probably either a Musicology vinyl record (unofficial but it still sounded ok) or The prince Album on vinyl. Can U tell me (And some other fans) what them most you have paid for a Prince (or prince instead) album? eye would be intrested in what you guys say!

I spent quite a lot on the Carmen Electra album when I spotted it while walking past a record store in NYC in 2004 (the week he played Madison Sqaure Garden on the Musicology Tour) biggrin

Eh, maybe about 80 euro a decade ago on a cd of The Family that I'm fairly sure is an almost perfectly made boot.

I think I paid $50 for the "Small Club" show on vinyl back in 1988 or 1989.

120 Dutch guilders for The Hits 1 & 2 and B-sides (1993)

Equivalent to €120 now I guess with all the inflation over these 25 years.

Dunno what I paid for b00tlegs. Depended on the source...

Don't remember anymore, the time that I had to still buy older Prince and related stuff has been 30 years in the past now. (took me 3 years and bit to get everything I had missed) I remember I had to pay more for old P-Funk records than for Prince related stuff.

.

I might have paid a lot for the first good boots of the Black Album (that were made to look like the real thing). It cost more than Small Club, either the X-records CDs or the vinyl, that much I know. Bootlegs back then were quite expensive, but I hardly made any money, so everything was expensive.

.

I do remember not wanting to spend around 200 guilders (around €90) for Strange Tales From The Rain, as it didn't contain any music I didn't already have.

For an album? $120US for a used One Nite Alone - Solo Piano CD.

I've paid about that much for some 12" singles on vinyl, too.

£45 for a CD copy of the "Gold Experience." Its very fucking hard to find any Prince albums in Ireland, let alone his 90s stuff, I had to order online and I wanted a version that looked fairley looked after... so I had to pay that for the CD... I was very happy with it tho biggrin

$45 (incl shipping) for a copy of 2010 mailed over from the U.K. Complete with tears where the sleeve was glued to the newspaper.
And the MUSIC continues...forever...

77 bucks for 3 albums on Lotuscam.com, that's 25,66 bucks a record and that's pretty much all I got for my money sad

I also paid 100 bucks for 4 CD's in 2002 but in the end I think I received 2 ONA Live, 3 ONA + Xpectation so that was OK lol

Now there were some naughtly bootlegs I paid 30 bucks a piece back in the early 90's.

Mine had to have been from Prince directly.
From 1-800-New-Funk I bought Crystal Ball at a premium and got the Come On maxi CD with The One remix - I just had to have that one. Glad I got it though because I hadn’t see it stores otherwise not once.

Can you still call 1-800-New-Funk?

Despite buying everything he ever put out I have never paid more than normal wreckastow price. I think the most expensive set was the One Nite Alone Live box set.

Ah I remember the days when there was a huge Virgin Megastore on Oxford St in London. It had a huge import section where I used to pick up all the protege releases that didn't get a proper UK release.
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

I think about $100 for that purple paisley hinged Diamonds & Pearls box.

It was cool, but very disappointing to find out that it was an unofficial release. I was able to sell it back to the same store (for much less, obviously).

i think i gave around a hundo for a first press cd of 'goldnigga' about 20 years ago...that's the only one i've ever paid a 'collector's price' for. everything else, i've paid retail or less.

How much were Crystal Ball and Emancipation when they released? My most expensive should be which ever of those cost the most.

For a one off, the most I paid was £300 for a gold disc award for SOTT.

For regular items (be it rare promos), I paid £70 each for the the vinyls of His Majesty's Pop Life and Strange Tales.

Seems cheap now what with the crazy prizes, but they were expensive at the time.

It's not really an album, but you made me remember something: years ago, somebody I knew told me he knew somebody who had the Ren Woods LP (you know, with one Prince song on it) and this person wanted a Small Club CD in return. So I went to a record fair, found that CD, paid 100 guilders, went home, played it and decided to keep it. To this day,I never heard that Ren Woods LP with the Prince song on it...

Never having heard it, but not being quite sold on the track after reading the story about it on Princevault, was it worth it?

.

It's definitely one of the rarer Prince items in existence..

Luckily most of the times didn't have to during the vinyl/cd stages I worked in a Wrecka Stow.

I saved my allowance when I was about 12-13 and paid $50 for The Hits/The B-Sides.

I have heard it and I would say it's not even worth 51 cents.

Being a collector, YES, it was worth it to have this beautiful record in my collection. I know lots of people put the song down but I like the song. Is it the greatest song in Prince's catalouge? Not by any stretch but I can enjoy it for what it is. cool

It was 'official' but not official enough so most of it was destroyed.
