I would like to say that I like the Nude Tour, when I said about the tour being "Hated and Unliked" I was just making an assumption from what I've seen on the Org.

Prince was at the zenith of his popularity in Europe in the early 90s. His first and only UK number one single was 'TMBGITW' in 1994.

Those in Europe at that time will tend to have a much different perception to those in the US, which Prince largely ignored for the tours in question. 'Sexy MF' and 'My Name is Prince' for example, were both top 10 hits in the UK and performed much better here than in his native US.

Totally agree!

Sexy MF even has Strollin' as the b-side as a way to keep pushing D&P.

Particularly as it was a while before the D&P longform video was released.

lol

The D&P Tour was very succesful in Europe. But ive witnessed the ''Parade'', ''SOTT'' and ''Lovesexy'' tours also. Therefore, the Nude- and D&P tour was for me dissapointing.

That particular tour was a great period commerically in his career when riding high on the album and the tour. A visually spectacular show.

Sydney

I saw two D&P shows in Sydney at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. I was young and it was amazing! I remember Prince videoing Mayte or a Diamond & Pearl (cant remember) as she wiggled backstage (Insatiable) and Prince entering stage in the beginning via a see through lift. I also remember Daddy Pop rocked.

Never been one of my favorite tours, honestly. The set list and arrangements don't do it for me.

D&P was a very good to excellent tour. The only reason it didn't come to America is because, by then, Prince wasn't as popular in America as he was in Europe even though D&P charted fairly well in America.

I think the apparent assumption by Prince and his associates about a D & P tour being unsuccessful in America would have likely proven to be untrue. At the time, radio requests and being able to have several singles off the same album were a good measure of the popularity of a particular artist. I honestly think there was renaissance of popularity here, as the public asked for and got plenty of Prince songs and videos form D & P. I was really following how he was received here throughout his career, and Cream, Diamands and Pearls, and Insatiable (on urban stations) were hugely requested for months. Gett Off and Money Don't Buy You Anything had their fans too and would have nights when they were among the most requested songs. I know we will never know, but all indicators at the time were indicating a Prince commercial comeback in America. Perhaps he was just preferred to tour Europe because he appreciated that they didn't turn their back on him when America did.

Something that really shocked me when I watched the London footage years ago, is how tense and unhappy Prince seemed the whole show. Most shows I've seen he seems to be having a ball, but there he was like going to work and having zero fun sad
