Is the Estate ashamed of "Times Squared", "Carmen Electra" and "Child Of The Sun" (or just clueless)?

Interestingly, neither of those 3 side-projects are featured in the official discography: https://www.princeestate.com/.

.

At first I assumed they were ashamed of Carmen Electra and Child Of The Sun but then I realized Times Squared wasn't there either and I don't see why they'd want to hide that one under the carpet. Hell, they even included Kamasutra!

.

So I guess they're just being sloppy and/or clueless?

.

There are a few other inconsistencies on the website, but those omissions are quite noticeable

.

Another proof that they need advice from the fans, if you ask me. Estate, come and speak with us: we're nice, we're kind, and we'll work for you for free!

No T.C. Ellis either... biggrin

The thing that I really don't like about that discography is the layout. Stop trying to be like Prince and make everything fancy and artistic. A discography should be laid out neat and orderly, the oversized font, the eye cursor and the album covers when you hover over a title hurt these old eyes.

TC Ellis really shouldn't be there unless they include all the albums with Prince contributions: as far as we know, Prince only composed 3 songs (including a cover) and played on/produced one on that record.

.

And yeah, the site is fancy buy really confusing and hard to navigate. Now IDK what they're trying to do on the long run. At some point unless they rip-off Princevault (which they already did for album credits) and my website, they need to keep it a short discography focused on the main albums, which I think is good because the purpose isn't to be a comprehensive resource but a marketing tool to expose the main aspects of Prince's work to casual fans. But it could indeed be easier to navigate.

.

To be honest IDK what they were thinking when they put this "The Estate is the singular, authoritative source on all things Prince" claim on the site. It clearly sounded like an open declaration of war against the fans, partyicularly after copying and pasting some text straight off Princevault, and it made me feel quite uncomfortable.

As long as they don't get the bright idea to try to shut down the fan resources, it's whatevs.

If they do try push PrinceVault and others out they will regret it. I doubt I'm the only one that would throw my support behind the fan resources and boycott the families efforts in a situation like that.

If they're smart, they'll work with the fans and their efforts and give all credit where it is due.

They would have no legal grounds for any such action. Even Prince wasn't able to do that (and we know he tried in the days of Uptown Mag).

Yes. That's all I'm asking for. Hopefully when the siblings are back in charge it'll happen. Sharon seemed quite open to that.

I also purchased it twice (once on cassettes then once on CD), but all I have left is my diggital rip of the later. I have earlier configurations, though, so that makes it 3 I guess lol

Hey, after all "Carmen Electra is the future, she is inevitable".

True nod If they were going to include Ingrid's album and Pandemonium, they could have included that one as well (and even Elisa's I Am though that particular one didn't emerge from Prince's own wishes).

It's a Prince album. For all its flaws it's still worth studying: plenty cool stuff on it, too. At least if you're deeply really into Prince's music. I'll admit that for the casual fan it's a totally uninteresting record. But for me, it's full of interesting details. Check out the recent leak of Fantasia Erotica by Anna Fantastic on YT: I've always despised that song, and listening to that early mix made me realize that it's full of interesting musical ideas, unfortunately they were so buried in Junior Vasquez' disastrous remixing and Carmen's irritating vocals that they went unnoticed on the final version.

But back to topic, regardless of what one may think of it, it exixts, so it has to be featured on Prince side-projects discography.

Back then I was in a record store in Amsterdam where the Carmen album was playing and I overheard somebody say:"they're chasing you away with this shit music".
But I always liked it. She wasn't much of a live performer, but I like the album. And now that it's out of print, I'm very glad to have it. And the original version of Goldnigga. The "rib-eatin', cornbread and collard green-eatin' greasy finger lickin' funk" (whatever that means) of the NPG sounds excellent on both albums.

A quick search revealed loads of torrents on her aerobic striptease and wallpapers. The album? Not so much.

I remember buying Child of the Sun, which isn't half as bad.

Torrents aren't where one finds music unless you're looking for a Beatles collection or the latest Taylor Swift record.

There is another place.

Carmen Electra is there for you to download nod

I mentioned Kamasutra because it's famous for being hated by P fans, and indeed it has serious flaws no other Prince records have. But I like it too, it's not about that: if it was released it should be there.
