That second story--about communicating with Prince via a medium--kinda throws the rest in doubt. She comes across as nice but her relationship with reality seems tenuous. Sorry.

I still can't believe he went on a talent show, and that he lip synced. Those two things are out of character on their own, let alone happening at the same time. I know he has lip synced a few times before that, but for me, the worst TV performance he ever did. Saying that, it was still light years more entertaining than most would achieve doing the same thing.

I take it back. He was always surprising us and doing the unexpected. So it wasn't out of character at all! I just remember hoping he would show up on shows like this, when I was a teenager. He never did. That was part of what made him cool, and built the mystique. So it was surprising to me that he did it in the naughties instead.

CORRECT.

Sorry if I was not clear. Prince sang live. It was just the music that was not live. And as I said, Prince hated that but had to do it that way for AI.

Was there really ever any confusion as to whether the music was live or on track? The very first time I saw it I understood that he was singing live over a track. Which is fine, given that's what all the contestants do anyway.

Sure, there were Orgers who didn't know, or insisted it was this or that. Which was part of the fun but it's nice to know the accurate story from someone who was one of the performers.

Dadgum, I almost forgot! I asked Maya what was the deal with Chelsea Rodgers? It's not everyone that gets their own song AND their own symbol that was based on Prince's symbol. So what happened in that deal?

She didn't really know. Maya had kind of forgotten about her.
