I'm certain that Prince was worried about terrorist attacks and his own safety. I had tickets for the Sign O The Times tour and it was reported that the gigs were cancelled due to the amount of IRA operations in UK at the time. | |

I had tickets for Wembley Stadium for SOTT but was always under the impression that it was cancelled due to worries about the weather. Several shows in Europe on that tour had been washouts (as all open air stadium/festival type venues). The story went that with fears of the weather Prince's promoter tried to transfer the Wembley Stadium show to four shows at Earls Court (the only indoor venue in Uk big enough to hold the stage set) but Kensington council required 30 days to grant a licence so it didn't happen. Ironically the weather was beautiful on the day of the original Wembley show! I know because I was in the queue for my refund! 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything. | |
