Hi Latin,

Thanks so much for posting this! I'm the curator and I'm happy to let everyone know we had literally hundreds of people visit the Museum this past weekend for Art A Whirl and received such wonderful responses. We are still open now through to Thursday and I'm doing tours by request too.

I hope we can pop up in other Prince cities around the world, where we can bring some of the local Minneapolis stories and artwork, as well as doing a call in that new Prince city for local stories, objects and artworks. A unique people's museum for Prince in each city we visit.

I welcome suggestions and invitations- we just need a space and some good Prince love and we can make it happen.

I'm posting images and updates on facebook peoplesmuseumforprince.

Have you thought of doing a video and posting to Youtube of the show? I would love to see up close some of the pieces. Also, I saw a bicycle and a purple outfit at the show (from pics I saw) were those his?

hi Francis- thanks for your interest! I'm working on some good documentation to share in these coming days. The bike was a gift from an artist, it turned up during installation! Not Prince's but felt good. We don't have any of Prince's outfits- but we do have a see-through catsuit that one of the artists wore when dancing with Prince! He transformed her life. This project is more about the personal stories, artworks and other artifacts people have collected of personal significance, from people around the world whose lives have been deeply touched by Prince. This first exhibition presents 30 different contributors- artists, collectors and story tellers from Minneapolios and all around the world. Thanks again, will post more as we get filming done.

lol... I saw the bike and I immediately thought it belonged to Prince smile

I look forward to seeing the show in person. I hope to go next year if you have it. It looks very interesting. I saw that you had Troy Gua's Le Petit Prince - his little clothes and guitar! smile

Thanks Francis, and Latin. I hope everyone who is in Minneapolis and loves Prince can come by today Thursday May 24 for our closing celebration-- open from 1pm for visits and guided tours, with a reception and community conversation tonight from 6pm to share thoughts and ideas about possible futures for the People's Museum for Prince. We had thousands of visitors over the Art A Whirl weekend! I'm delighted so many locals had the opportunity to visit the Museum and share their responses. It was overwhelmingly positive! Hoping to bring this to other Prince cities in the future!
