Former American Idol host Ryan Seacrest paid tribute to Prince by sharing a memory of when the late musician appeared on the show's season 5 finale.

At the time, the Fox singing show was pulling in over 30 million viewers, and Prince wanted to go on the show to promote his 2006 album, 3121. Dressed in a tapered purple suit, he strolled onto the stage with two dancers. He burned through the uptempo "Lolita" and the soulful "Satisfied" before turning on one heel and exiting the building.

Seacrest tweeted about the surreal moment, writing "he walked thru the back door..sang his song...got in the car..and left. He was that powerful."

Prince passed away at on April 21 at age 57.

An Idol on Idol

Back in 2006, when American Idol was still the highest-rated show on television, the finale was being watched by over 40 million viewers. Reportedly, Prince didn't even rehearse his performance of "Lolita" and "Satisfied." He showed up minutes before he was scheduled, rocked the house and then promptly walked offstage and out the door. The only thing he didn't do was drop the mic.

Those pictures in post #4, are faces/poses you can see Prince as far back as 1981, that is pretty cool

This would be among the least interesting of all his TV appearances, in my not-so-humble opinion...

I hate the entire concept of the show and don't like Lolita or the Twinz, so, this one was not for me.
I do like how he just blew in, performed, then bugged off without participating in any of the show's bullshit. That aspect of this appearance was CLASSIC!! evillol

lol cool wink

Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

Maya is going to be at an event here in Houston on 6/7. I'm going to ask her how much, if any, rehearsal went into that and if they did rehearse, when/where.

I remember watching this episode live and was totally shocked and caught off guard. I found it exhilarating! Showing everyone how to command a stage in both fast and slow tempo. I miss those Twinz too - they were awesome!

I remember that, too. There were updates about excatly where the limo was, where Prince was, etc.

It wouldn't have been the first time Prince had someone from his organization post here, LOL.

He didnt play an instrument and that was still one of the most Rockstar things I have ever seen. Walk in like a badass, act like a badass with 2 hot girls dancing around you, then bounce.
