Much of Prince's music, whether it be rock, pop, r&B, soul, new wave, etc... is FUNKY, because Prince himself was funky. Of course, a track can be funky without necessarily being "funk" music.

Funk defies definition.

Xpand

I just went back to Xpectation earlier this year to give it a fresh listen. Xpand (the 7th track - coincidence? or fate?) is definitely up there with his funkiest numbers.

1+1+1 is 3 is his funkiest song. That badass bass, the weird filters on his voice, the other voice that sounds like it came straight from a Funkadelic record, the sound effects like a dancing theramin and synth that wriggles like crazy, it's the pinnacle of his funkiness
